I hope I put this in the right forum.

Does anyone else here use a crystal deodorant? I've been using it since early August with no problem...but about three weeks ago I started to get itchy in all of the places where I apply it. After about a week and a half those places turned VERY red and are still quite itchy and a little painful.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I've had a lot of skin problems in the last five years and after having even worse reactions to conventional deodorants (and reading of their terribleness) I switched happily to the crystal...but now I'm sad that I may have to find something else. Any suggestions?

I used a liquid deodorant for a few years that I bought from the local co-op and loved it (it was mostly aloe vera) but it was very expensive and the crystal is so much more economical.

Hey There

and I sooo feel your pain....I am allergic to everything and I thought these would be perfect for me....wrong.....I got a horrible red rash that was itchy....It took days and many applications of Plain Aloe Vera to get rid of that and I never used it again.....I bought and am using Florere Vegan Deodorant. From Vegan Essentials...I like it....But Its not a fave.

I haven't tried it for this exact reason. I was curious about it until I read reviews and it seems a great majority of people had the same reaction to it as you did.

Well, I think that's very strange, because I've been using it for over a year and I've never had any problems associated with crystal deodorant. It's the conventional "natural" deodorants that make me itch like crazy, although I don't usually get a rash, just a nasty itch.

I don't know what to tell you. Just keep trying different deodorants until you find one that works for you.

My husband and I have both used the crystal stone deodorant for decades, actually my adult son uses it also. My son and I have not had any problems at all. We love the crystal stone. My husband is just now, after literally decades of using it, beginning to complain of severe itching in his armpits, some rash too. But, what is so weird is, why after all this time would he just now begin to experience this? Is it possible that different brands or different companies produce crystal stone deodorants with different salt mineral contents? Could the answer be just to try different brands of crystal stones?

I had trouble with Crystal deodorant and switched to Native after trying all deodorants I could find locally. I haven't had any issues with it at all and it really works!

Interesting. I bought Crystal (essence) deodorant a couple months ago. I took a trip, and forgot to pack deodorant and Crystal was the only cruelty-free deodorant at the store I was at. I've only used it a few times, but had no problems with it the times I did use it.

You can develop an allergy at any time. I've used Crystal and loved it until I lost it in a move. I've been making my own from coconut oil, baking soda and corn starch and like that better.
I use a jar from Better than Boullion , fill about a third with melted coconut oil and add about 2 teaspoons of corn starch to 1 teaspoon of soda stirring until thick. In winter you don't want it too thick because it'll get hard as the oil hardens. I'll also add some drops of essential oil.

I forget what the stick is?

Has he ruled out other things like detergent or new clothes?
