In case anyone reads my last comment, without having read through the entire thread, I would just like to emphasize one point, so that people don't get the wrong idea:

I personally am NOT employed by any AR organization, nor have I ever been.

Also, when I refer to the dishonesty among paid full time activists, I am not referring to any one specific organization, but a trend I have seen with people from a number of different organizations.

And I think this does eventually tend to rub off on the volunteers too. If not influencing them to become less honest, at least it influences what kind of individuals these organizations manage to retain as volunteers. (And I have met quite a few dishonest volunteers too.)
