Those were great ideas! If your waiter at a restaurant can speak English or if you can speak their language enough to get by, I also recommend not being afraid to deconstruct a meal that is on the menu and making it vegan if there aren't any vegan options. The other day I was at Applebee's and the only vegetarian option I could see was grilled cheese, so I ended up ordering this one dish that had chicken, portobello mushrooms, and potatoes, and I asked for no chicken and to instead add other veggies and to take off the cheese. Of course my waitress looked at me like I was crazy, but they complied and it ended up being fine. So if you're researching your options and there are none, make your own!
