I was wondering whether there is a shrimp free curry paste available here in Australia as I developed an allergy to prawns and shrimp based products three years ago and everywhere I look I still have not been able to find anywhere that sells it
I don't usually buy curry paste, so not sure of any brands. But I will suggest maybe going into a local vegan store and sourcing something there as you'll know for sure there aren't animal products in it without having to check the labels.
I don't think yellow or red curries have shrimp paste in them as a general rule. The brand Thai Gourmet is a shrimp-free green curry paste, last I checked.
Ayam also have a really nice 'vegetarian sauce', that's a good substitute for a lot of stir fry sauces that might have animals or animal products in them.
I'm not sure about cross contamination though.
