    Raw food diets for athletes?

    Hi everyone

I'm an aspiring athlete (boxer ) and even though i cant say with any true conviction that I'm going to become a raw foodist it will certainly be a great thing to try out; and keep up if i feel it helps...

If anyone can give some typical raw food diet examples for any specific forms of athleticism, be it bodybuilding, boxing or any sport that would be awesome

I'm just struggling with the idea of coping without bread, rice, pasta, porridge or potatoes, things that as a boxer i really really depend on

I could probably live without soya and quorn (just) but i cant imagine going without the above

well as long as you take in alot of raw nuts your proteins and healthy fats should be fine. i am for the most part a raw foodie, but i do eat unprocessed organic bran for my "cereal" in the morning with some blueberries. and flaxseed meal is good too.

Check out the thread I have going in this Raw Forum. There are examples of raw athletes and some of the posts do state what they eat.

I don't myself believe that, even when we fulfill our minimum obligation to not cause pain, we have the right to kill animals. I know I would not have the right to kill you, however painlessly, just because I liked your flavour and I am not in a position to judge that your life is worth more to you than the animal's to it.

I bought a book today by a professional Ironman Triathlete called "The Thrive Diet". It looks like it might be what you are interested in. (It is a canadian book, and canadian things unfortunately don't always make it into the US, but I did see it on amazon.com)

Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention that while it is not completely raw, most of it is, and there are raw options with a lot of the recipes and stuff, so it can be easily tailored. Again, I haven't really read it yet, but it could be something to look into.
