Everything looks so yummy and is making me so hungry.

I have an amateur electrician in my kitchen right now, trying to fix my electrical disaster from this morning, so no cooking for me.

Cooking oatmeal on the stove and I had to turn it off to go get dogs out of guest room. Came back and flame wouldn't light....and no ticking noise from ignition...digital display gone...everything else in kitchen seemed Ok, until I turned on the microwave to finish my oatmeal...then heard a loud pop from master bedroom...brand new flat screen monitor is blacked out. I turn off computer and eat 1/2 cooked oatmeal....turns out, microwave overloaded something, killed the outlet that the stove is plugged into and fried the outlet in the master bedroom that the monitor is plugged into..melted the wires in the wall and everything. Fortunately no fire, but expensive to repair and re-do. Re wired bedroom outlet so I can use computer again. Converting unused 220 volt outlet behind the stove to 110 volt outlet and something else...using old ugly monitor from garage and eating cold rice from fridge..and also feeling sorry for myself looking at all this yummy food.

Ok, I am done venting..

Thank you. It should be done today (crosses fingers & sends positive thoughts to electrician) and the electrician asked me how many people would be here for Thanksgiving...the question alarmed me as I thought he meant nothing would be fixed and he wanted to know if I could feed em all out of a crockpot or something. Turns out he has no family here and will be alone. He was enjoying it so much here with all the constant noise and hoopla here, that he wants to come for dinner. He is of course invited now, but it made me cry last night that he would have been all by himself. He is looking forward
to trying veg dishes and said its the company first and the food second that means so much to him. (of course he hasn't met my Mom yet...she has Alzheimer's and can add a whole different atmosphere to any occasion, but she likes holidays)


On topic:
I am going to the store today to get the few items I need for vyapti's squash casserole and your fruit and nut rice. I am making both today (cuz I can't wait) and I'll make them again on Thanksgiving.
