Can we really call the bleach kits that come from companies with vegan hair dyes vegan?
why shouldn't we? they do. *confused*. special effects and manic panic say that their stuff is vegan friendly, if it turned out not to be, they'd be in big trouble.

Do you know whether they contain actual bleach, which is not vegan?
i'm not sure what you mean by 'actual bleach' but i thought that they generally contained hydrogen peroxide as an active bleaching ingredient (right?) which is vegan- its the other bits in the mixture that i'd be inclined to check on. the manic panic bleaches contain:

What are the Ingredients* of Manic Panic Flash Lightning Bleach Kits?
Developer Ingredients: Deionized Water, Hydrogen Peroxide, Phosphoric Acid.
Bleach Powder Ingredients: Sodium Persulfate, Sodium Silicate, Sodium Stearate, Silica, Ammonium Persulfate, Hydroxymethyl Cellulose, Disodium EDTA, Carbomer, Sodium Laureth Sulfate. [Ingredients correct as of 31st March 2007 and based on manufacturers product packaging]. Fully Vegan Friendly
i didn't see their ingredients listed on their site, but special effects also says their range is vegan friendly. http://www.specialeffectsusa.com/info.html

hello, I know this is an old topic, but I would like to know if these hairdyes (and bleach) are also non animal tested? Because it says 100% vegan, which to me means no animaltesting, but I don't if know if that's the general opinion.

many of the companies listed declare on their websites if/that they don't test. if there isn't such a declaration, contacting them to ask would be a good idea.

    Manic Panic and Special Effects!

Manic Panic bleach is fine, but their colors fade super fast. Special Effects colors last at least three times longer. I had pink bright pink hair last year. I miss it sometimes but having "normal" hair is good too.
