    Orange

    Well, there's an apple thread!!!

So who here likes oranges? Whilst apples are my favourite fruit, I do like oranges every now and then. So which member of the orange family is your favourite? I personally like the smaller oranges, like clementines and tengerines. If I get larger oranges, it goes straight in the juicer!

    Which varieties do you like?

I like clemintines and tangerines too. I like large oranges too (can't remember names). I like to use the segments from smaller ones in some rice stir fries.

In addition to taste, I pick ones with rough bumpy skins. I know these skins are thicker and will also be excellent "peelers". Smooth-skinned oranges are a pain to peel. Also clementines with loose feeling skins are easy peelers too (and always have bumpy skins too anyay )

Navel oranges are so good. The smaller ones disappear to fast for my liking.

Now we're talking!!! (Uh... I just binged on orange)

    Numero uno: Navel orange!!!!

But I luv'em all! The small ones (mandarin, tangerine) are very sweet can't eat many at once. Blood oranges have nice tartness but it's also not binge material IMHO.

Grapeftuits are somewhat fussy as u have to scrape out the flesh - i sometimes think I use more calories in doing so than I get from the fruit.

Some time ago I bought a "Pommelo" which is the largest citrus ever. It's like a melon but in reality a grapefruit. At least the chunks of flesh u get out of it are huge - but it separates also much easier than normal grapefruit...

all citrus are the coolest! I love pummellos, sunkist navels, and grapefruit! Tangerenes are good, but not my fav, I think sunkist navels are. If you've not had a sunkist navel, you have not lived!

    Navels, clementines, and Sanquinello.

Sanquinello's are red inside and have red juice.

I won't buy oranges from Israel or argentina, I live in northern europe and I draw the line near the mediteranian ocean.

I like just about every orange there is. The only ones I didn't like were the ones I got sometime last month. They all had this "rotten orange" flavor even though they were all fresh. ICK! Poor Hubby couldn't eat them either and he loves oranges like I do.

We have some local oranges here called Ka`u Gold, and they are amazing! they have a blothchy skin, and the rule of thumb is "the uglier the better". SO sweet and juicy!

I also like Valencias and blood oranges. I ate 4 valencias yesterday. OMG they were delicious!!!!
