Half of my eye is red

Not pink a la pinkeye, but...red! So I used some OTC eye drops for a good 5 days and nothing. I called the dr. and she called in some Rx drops for me. I've been taking them since friday and still...red eye. It's freaking me out! Plus I think when I'm bartending people are not thrilled to take a drink from a girl with a red eye (paranoid much?)

It doesn't itch...it doesn't burn...it's not weepy or gross in any way...there doesn't seem to be a scratch...

    le sigh.

OTC drops can actually cause your eyes to go red if you take them for more then a couple days. It's one of the ironies; you take them to get rid of red eye, but then they start to cause it.

The Rx drops can sometimes take up to a week to help.

Do you wear contacts? If so, leave them out until the infection is cleared. Contacts will keep the bad junk trapped on your eye. You may also want to consider going to an eye doctor.

I don't have contacts or glasses. I think I will give the drops til Wed or Thurs. If it isn't at least a little lighter by then, I'll have to cough up the cash for an eye dr.

That use to happen to me. The inside part of my left eye would get really red and it never hurt. The doctors said it was because I was putting a lot of strain on my eyes so I had to get glasses for when I'm reading/working on the computer. No more red eye.
We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

Maybe a blood vessel popped? That happened to me a few times last year when I was under mad stress. I had low blood pressure, so I don't really understand why it happened. It didn't hurt, itch, or burn. It was just red.

i know someone who burst blood vessels in both eyes. he looked posessed it was freaky. the whites of his eyes were blood red.

it can happen from strenuous activity, or uh in my friend's case he drank too much and threw up so much and so hard that he burst the vessels from heaving. ick.
but i think like heavy lifting etc could do it too.

eye strain sounds likely also. getting enough sleep? spending too much time in front of the computer?

I'm definitely getting enough sleep. I haven't puked from drinking in a while but the last time I did...I burst blood vessels in my face (someone gave me a shot of whiskey). I had splotches for days

I am in front of the computer from 8:30-5:30 (much of the time reading the teeny print on VB )

I am praying to God that glasses isn't going to be the answer...I dont' want to be a fat chick AND have glasses

Honestly I think it very well could be stress...I have headaches a lot mostly from clentching my jaw and trying to get through this horrible work day.
