    Wheat allergy?

    Hi,
I curious about wheat allergies. What types of symptons do people have with it and is it with all wheat or just certian products. Are there different levels of reactions?
I notice that when I eat whole wheat bread or baked goods ive made with whole wheat breads I get "itchy"... I use itchy for lack of a better discription. Its sort of an itch skin irritation thing. Ive had the "itchy" off and on for years. I never connected it to anything in particular untill recently. When I stopped eating all animal products is when I realy started to notice the wheat connection. Id say Im allergic flat out but I dont have a problem with onion pita bread or even whole wheat pasta. Maybe I am reacting but not enough to link it directly. Is it maybe something in the baked stuff? I notice that because the reation seems so much more sever. After a few days of no whole wheat products or at least not bread type ones, just pasta or the onion pita or tortillas, the "itchy" starts to go away. It will come back if I eat the whole wheat stuff, with the exception of whole wheat pasta.
Any ideas on if this an actual wheat problem or something else??
    Thanks
    sasha

I’ll get itchy too; rarely I’ll have a slight problem in breathing. I only notice these symptoms when I eat certain wheat products or large amounts of wheat. Anytime I eat wheat, I get a lot of gastrointestinal problems and I get extremely fuzzy headed the next day. It slows down my thinking tremendously.

I haven’t been tested for allergies myself, but you can ask your doctor to be tested. It’s done by putting commonly allergens on your arm.

    Edited to Add:

You may want to try and keep a log of what you eat and any symptoms you have afterwards. It can help point out other food sensitivities or allergies. It may be helpful to your doctor too.

    Thanks for the info.
I was wondering if it could be wheat since I seem to be able to tolertate some wheat. I was keeping a food diary to make sure I was getting enough calories everyday, when I noticed that the itchy seemed to be worse after a day I had eaten whole wheat bread. And less after a day or so of no bread.
I do seem to be getting more sensative in general, not just to wheat. But that list was helpful, maybe Ill have to start with the food diary again and keep that list in mind.
    Thanks,
    sasha
