    Time/Frugality.

Sharing some experiences/thoughts here. In learning frugality one can get obsessed with it. Remembering the 80-20 rule greatly helps in regards to frugality.

Also a lot of people are getting addcited to online surfing. Time is very important and one needs to be frugal with spending time. I wish to come to message boards much less frequently, come online much less frequently, grab what I need really fast and then leave. Time is better spent doing things, learning or spending with another person. This is going to be my future vital focus.

Focus on the top 20% of the priorities. These are usually responsible for 80% of the results.

You are welcome. Rather than looking at sites all the time here are some alternatives:
    1. Exercise a little, a few pushups, stretching exercises etc.,
    2. Clean the bathroom wall, kitchen cabinet etc.,
    3. Go out for a walk

Looking at the PC monitor is not good as there are harmful rays comming out of it, also there is RSI to consider seriously. Besides, every computer hard drive is valid for so many hours it is switched on, so is the monitor. Replacing them often is not frugal and expensive. Hence, having the PC on for an hour a day at the max and then switching it off is good. This enormously extends its life. Besides, if you are using a PC at work, avoid logging in at home at all costs or to a max of 15 mts. Important forums/mesage boards can be checked weekly or every three days unless one is learning something consistently from a message board.

    Best Regards,

    Vijay

This book was the original time management book, published in 1961. It is slim, free of buzz terms, can be gotten used for a pittance, is in most libraries, will explain the 80/20 rule, and despite the hoaky title is still one of the best time management books after 40 something years:

    I resembel that remark.

I hosed my syster last weekend and went most of the week without a computer at home.

I felt much more relaxed and refreshed the next morning, did more stuff etc.

I have to learn how to cut down.

Thank you for your post. Today the time is back by one hour, so I decided to stay on here a little more and also to get this VITAL forum a little more active.

I have known people who are in front of their PCs the whole day at work, come back home and surf/play games again and then watch TV. What kind of a life is that ? To me it appears to be a life of obsession to what technology is offering us rather than using it well.

As a society we are all becomming very isolated, spending more time in front of our PCs, TVs and with lesser interaction with other people. This has become so acute that a site was started in this regard. www.wearewhatwedo.org

Also, frugal activities take time. Preparing muffins takes time, preparing mixes takes time etc., if one is constantly surfing how can one be frugal ?!!

People who surf for the sake of surfing and for long hours seem to have a slower response, loss of focus/concentration and are not present in the moment. Due to late night surfing for extended periods, I have made mistakes at work etc., Also people felt that I was not giving them attention when they spoke.

Having a plan before comming online and sticking to it helps. Each web-site is competing for your time. hence, one can get easily side tracked.
