Straightedge help??

Hello...my friend is "straight edge" and last night, he took a vicodin(sp??) tablet....he had no pain, he just took it to see what it would do.....this is NOT right...right? I don't know all the rules, but I feel like this is unacceptable to the straight edge lifestyle. Help me out here.

Hold on, what defines right? Right in that he's straightedge even though he's popping pills? Well, in that sense, no. Honestly it doesn't matter what he chooses to do or not, though.

He's still experimenting with it, but if you're straightedge, I wouldn't imagine you experimenting with anything like that.

Oh, he's fine. He only took one. I, myself, am not straight edge. However, if this is the lifestyle he chooses and yells at everyone else for NOT choosing, I think he should know what he did was wrong...he altered his state of mind without needing to besides the fact that he was bored. I don't know, I am not an expert but was just wondering..thanks for the help.

Uh, well, I consider myself straightedge. What he did isn't exactly straightedge, but of course, it's not a religion. There's no straightedge police that come and take you away if you pop a pill. It's a lot like vegetarianism. You do your best because you think it's the right thing to do. Some times you might slip up, it doesn't mean you can't get right back on track.

Basically, they don't believe in taking mind-altering substances (alcohol, drugs, also cigarettes) or promiscuous sex. It's a pretty positive lifestyle.
