Some vets are more proactive than others, and you seem confused about how much she should be fed, so one would assume that you haven't discussed that with your vet. Have you had her thyroid checked?

It's purina. Low in protien. It looks like good food. It's for "non-active" adult dogs. I'm checking with my vet. I do need some professional advice. She's way too big

Sometimes vets won't offer advice unless asked for it, because people often don't take unsolicited advice. Especially over things they get defensive about, like how to look after their beloved companions. Most of the vets I've been to have dedicated weight clinics once or twice a week where you can have regular appointments to keep track of an animal's diet. Kind of like Weight Watchers for dogs and cats.

That is so cool. Those vets you talk of are in touch with what's going on in the real world. They know most domesticated animals are lounging around eating pizza bones and left over people food everyday. It's a real problem. They've taken it seriously and I'm going to pay attention also. Thanks
