    Hiya!

Hi! I'm Sarah. I am 14 and I live in Illinois. I am a pescetarian (that means I eat fish). I would be more likely to quit milk and eggs than fish, and I would like to but I don't have the resources. I am in high school, and I want to eventually be a country veterinarian like James Herriot. I have been a pescetarian only for a few months but I'm not going to quit. I have been flirting with the idea of giving up meat for a long time. I avoid gelatin mostly, and prefer to avoid rennet, but it's not always possible . I never wear leather (gross!)

Update: I've actually stopped eating fish for separate reasons
I have no moral objections to them but just dislike the idea of dining on a carcass

    Welcome to VeggieBoards!

Just as a reminder of the rules you agreed to when you signed up, this board is for vegetarians or people striving towards vegetarianism. We're quite happy to help you with this transition

It's not just about you. It's also about the rest of us, some of whom have compassion for fish and don't want to know about people who refuse to stop eating them.

Our habit of moralizing problems, merging them with intuitions of purity and contamination, and resting content when we feel the right feelings, can get in the way of doing the right thing. ~ Steven Pinker

I thought this wasn't about judging
Vegetarians can be as judgmental as meat eaters. I came for the same need of support as vegetarians, vegetarian recipes, ideas and hints. I am in high school. I have actually decided I would like to be a real vegetarian but I don't have the resources. I wouldn't like to kill a fish but I'd rather kill a fish than a chicken.

I'm sorry but does that mean that you don't have any friends who eat meat? Because if you don't you've just lost a lot of potential friends. In the real world people eat meat and kill animals every day and you can't hide from that and close yourself off.

    See this: http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/s...ad.php?t=67256

It's not so much about being judgmental as it is the fact that this is a vegetarian forum, and well, rules are rules. I'm glad you know the difference between a pescetarian and a vegetarian; many people don't, but... Here's a quote from Rule #1 that pretty much sums it up: "Discussion of eating meat, especially with no intention of giving it up, is not appropriate and will result in an immediate ban."

What resources do you lack that prevent you from becoming a (lacto-ovo/lacto/ovo)-vegetarian? I'm sure a lot of people here would be glad to help you with attaining said resource and sidestepping or removing any roadblocks you may have to becoming a veg*n.

Fixed it for you, I hope? Let's try not to start an argument here...

Yes I do. That's why places like this online are special to vegetarians. They are the havens we need and deserve, where we can at last be free of the opinions of people who do stuff we are tired of having to tolerate everywhere else.

I'm not trying to start an argument. I am trying to explain why forums like this are set up to exclude people who have no intention of stopping the killing of animals for food. Anyone can learn about vegetarianism by reading the forum without signing up. Signing up and then proceeding to tell us all that they have no intention of giving up the eating of fish goes against the purpose of the board.

I didn't create this board, and I didn't contribute to the writing of any of the rules. I just happen to agree with them.
