I think a lot of people are under the impression that declawing is a harmless procedure. A lot of vets even seem to include it in spay/neuter packages as an extra option to have done while the cat is under.
I think if vets explained what the procedure entailed, fewer people would be willing to have it done.
I know a woman who lost the very tip of one of her fingers years ago. She still complains about how sensitive and painful it can be. That's what I think about when I think about declawing, and how much worse it must be for the cats who have to WALK on their toes.
I'd like to see a ban put in place.
