Thread: California cities act to ban cat declawing

    I think a lot of people are under the impression that declawing is a harmless procedure. A lot of vets even seem to include it in spay/neuter packages as an extra option to have done while the cat is under.

    I think if vets explained what the procedure entailed, fewer people would be willing to have it done.

    I know a woman who lost the very tip of one of her fingers years ago. She still complains about how sensitive and painful it can be. That's what I think about when I think about declawing, and how much worse it must be for the cats who have to WALK on their toes.

    I'd like to see a ban put in place.

    Declawing is just one of those things that shows how dead wrong anyone is who claims companion animals have it all good and are so privileged. Maybe compared to some other animals they are, but not inherently.
