Thread: Son doesn't want to participate in food drive.

    If he doesn't approve of "helping" activities like food drives he's not going to last long as a scout.

    Thanks Everyone!

    We went to the event and he complained all the way. We initially had trouble finding a parking space and he even tried to use that angle to get out of it.

    Once we got out of the car and he saw his friends, things got better, and the event went off without a hitch.

    I did try to explain the importance of helping others, but that didn't work. I did the threats of no cartoons if we stay home, to no avail.

    Then my wife came down and started on him with the Catholic guilt. (she's a 3rd degree grand master) .

    That finally got him into the car with a lot less complaining.

    I'm not really into the recording thing. I think that would spoil him.

    Next week, we go around and pick up the food and deliver it to a local food bank, so hopefully he'll be able to connect the dots on how his efforts help others.
