Okay, so suppose I secretly want the real stuff. By eating this, I am not violating my principles. By actually eating an animal, I am.

I bet I think that this post is about me...

I'd be more concerned about the additives used in making these pseudo-meats.

even if vegetarians crave real meat, it's not 'cheating'.

I love them. I don't actually know what real meat tastes of, maybe thats why I like them so much. Fry's veggie products FTW.

Its not cheating. I agree with whoever in this thread said that some people assume that vegetarians can only eat seeds!

I don't think it's "cheating" that's kind of weird...but I do believe that you can use them to wean off of meat.

I still think that they are a bit junky and overly processed. Still, I would prefer someone eat Quorn as opposed to real meat.

Stopped eating that kind of stuff some time ago because (as I mentioned in another thread) I don't want people to think that I NEED a meat replacement.

It's not cheating, slipping in some animal products would be cheating.

Cheating would be if you say you're veg, eat veg when you're around other people, and then secretly go home and snarf down meats. THAT would be cheating. What you're doing is eating vegetarian patties and things. Vegetarianism isn't about suffering and self sacrifice. You can enjoy food and convenience and still eat a veg*n diet.

There's nothing wrong with wanting the "real stuff" IMO. As long as one doesn't eat it in the end.

The ways some omnivores go to get a better conscience are amazing: "So you want to eat real meat, that means you're not better than me! HA-HA!"
