Is it possible to feed a snake with a vegan diet ?

I have post this question, because i have spoken with a non vegan snake lover who told me that in the US they tried to feed snake with soya and the snake was not feed only with vegan food but they could give him half of the mice.

It would be a beginning if someone can give me the contact of some vegan person who rescue snakes.

I don't know who this person was but snakes should not be fed plant matter as any significant proportion of their diet. The only plant matter they should get is inside the stomachs of the whole animals they eat.

I dont know too if you have heard of little tyke a lion who refused to eat meat or blood all her life. Some animals don't want to kill other animals.

They make the choice not to kill.

If we can find for them an alternative like there is one for human, so i think we should try it.

I agree we must not put theses animals in danger, but it isn't more "unnatural" to feed snakes with a vegan diet than to keep them with us in a terrarium.

Everyone die. But we can find solution that less animal are killed.

Vegan snake = dead in 1 - 12 months depending on size and nutrition levels before the irresponsible and ignorant 'owner' took away its necessary source of food

Carnivorous snake = lives for 20 - 30 years depending on size

If you don't want to be responsible for the death of an animal then you give the snake to someone who is going to look after him or her properly. A vegan diet is not the answer.

It doesn't fit in with a vegan ethic to buy dead mice, but it certainly doesn't fit in with the vegan ethic to kill a snake which doesn't share your moral compass.

People who are more interested in proving what ultra-radical, hard-core uber-vegans they are than they are about the well-being and welfare of the dependents in their care really shouldn't be taking care of companion animals.

As long as you have your image down pat who cares how quickly the snake dies? Why not have the snake put down - I mean, as long as you look cool on an internet forum who really cares?
