It was getting to a point that he doesn't meat as much cause I always cook something good for myself and he always wants some, lol. I also have a mother that kinda understands..

I have incredibly supportive family and friends!
Everyone from my grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, sisters, brother, mom, dad, boyfriend, best friends and roommates understand, make sure there is always yummy veg food for me and they don't give me any flak at all. I feel for everyone who has to fight to defend themselves and their diet everyday.

I'm divorced and my teenagers happily eat what I eat. The only other family members that I had regular contact with have all passed away so they don't care what I eat, and I just started seeing an omni who is very supportive. He even called his vegetarian cousin before our last date because he was planning on wearing a leather jacket and didn't want to offend me.

    Beans. They're what's for dinner.

When I went vegan years ago my parents were very concerned. But they did research on it themselves to make sure what I was telling them about was correct. In doing this research they came to realise that a vegetarian diet was good for them and the environment so adopted it themselves. So my turning vegan helped encourage them to eventually become vegetarians. Not bad.

Download hundreds of vegan recipes in free eBooks I've compiled.

I've been really lucky as well. I went vegetarian around 13 and my family and friends were very supportive. My mom and grandmother would always be on the lookout for new vegetarian products at the stores and get all giddy when they found something new for me try. I'm incredibly grateful for their support even more so after reading so many posts on here about unsupportive families.

Oh, I thought of something else! The boy-toy (ha!) always makes sure to cook my food first and use separate tools when he grills.

My family and friends are supportive and respectful. They check ingredients, etc... for me. Also, they love the vegan foods I make, and often make vegan things themselves. Sometimes I wish they didn't try my vegan food because when they like it I have to share!

Although my Nan often remarks that "we couldn't afford to have food fads when I was your age" my mum has been consistently excellent since I turned veggie six or so years ago when I was still living at home. Now whenever I visit for the weekend I find fridge and freezer full of veggie stuff, and although there's no way mum or dad are going to give up meat at least they've switched to free range/organic eggs and meat (most of the time anyway... less often when it's dad doing the shopping).

My father used to be vegetarian for health reasons, so he's all for it. He's already told me he's sending me a bunch of veg cookbooks for Christmas.

My mom is fine with asking what I can and can't have and has no problems with it. She's even been making certain that I have things at family functions. She also has been looking for a few veg options that she can store in her freezer in case I ever get hungry while visiting.

My step-father is very proud of me. He's very much into health stuff, and thinks what I'm doing is great. While he's not veg himself (and probably never will be) he has been extoling the praises of a healthy vegetarian diet.

I'll add my best friend in the list as she's my almost sister. She has been making sure that any function I'm invited to, or even if we just order out from a restraunt, that there are full vegan options available for me. (I'm not vegan, but I have to avoid eggs, and have cut back on dairy, so it's all good) She's also been passing on a lot of recipies and ready bought food ideas that she's learned of from a vegan couple she hangs around with at times.

So far, no one who knows has given me any problems. I love my family and friends!
