Found the lost black lab's owner!

I just felt an urge to check Craig's List one more time, and lo and behold, there she was! Yay! Success! She'll go back to her home tomorrow.
My poor cats will once again rest comfortably. I'll miss the little sweetie, but am so thankful for a happy ending.

That is a wonderful ending!!! You've saved a life.

Maybe you can drop a gentle hint into their ears about having her microchipped.

You might want to have them do both--Microchipping and a collar with tags. My sister does that with her two dogs.

Here's to hoping your pregnant stray cat has an equally happy ending.

    "Ok."
    "Behave like what?"

Good day for a happy ending! When I read your thread title I thought the black lab's owner was lost...that lab should keep a better eye on her owner so they don't get lost again...some dogs...sheesh

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

Good news. (I agree about the microchipping.)

    HA! Good one!
It was a happy ending. The owner gave directions and I pulled up to this HUGE mansion and two little girls came running out the front door and down the sidewalk yelling "Torrie! Torrie!" It was heartwarming. The strange thing is, the dog did have a chip. We don't know what happened but the owner said she'll speak to the vet. Turns out the dog is part whippet part lab, a rescue, and three years old. She's an indoor dog and apparently was frightened by the noise the contractors were making in the back yard and took off thanks to the contractor who left the gate open. This dog traveled about 4 miles to the store where she was found. Weird also was that the owner works in an office directly behind the store. Maybe she sensed something, who knows? The most important thing is that she's home and with her family.

I'm so glad she's home with her family!! Hopefully they'll put tags on her, too.

I've heard of this happening - I think the chip can "migrate" deeply enough so that the sensor doesn't pick it up.

I'm really glad you mentioned this, because for a while, I asked my vet to check my kids' chips when they went in for their annuals, but I've forgotten to do it the last couple of years. This was a timely reminder.
