Egads, I hate sushi but after reading these posts I might go check out the vegan stuff. Kind of made me hungry.

You don't need a kit. I make mine without it and just roll them by hand. It's not hard.

Depending on if you want to be vegetarian or vegan, there is the option of egg sushi/sashimi.

Personally I found quite a great love in yam rolls. The only thing I ever miss, and not even so much now, is sashimi.

I think I liked the idea more than anything.

it's just a pouch made of fried tofu and filled with sushi rice. it's very sweet though. (some places might put other things in it so make sure it's just rice or rice and veggies but traditionally it's just rice.) my favourite!!
veggie rolls are great too though, the seaweed does give it a real fishy flavour. sometimes you can get them with fried tofu in them, those are really yummy. i don't know what they use on fried tofu to make it so sweet but it's delish, combined with the hotness of the wasabi it's a great combo

damn now i want sushi lol

There is a really decent Japanese restaurant about 2 blocks from my office. They make the best ginseng tea (It is literally a wad of ginseng roots in a tea kettle with a diffuser) and they also have a sushi bar, of course. I have not had sushi there in a long time but now I wish I wasn't being so frugal this week... I could go for some avocado or cucumber rolls... Mmm...

Mmmm, this thread makes me want sushi. I eat it at least once a week... I usually take myself out to this cute and cheap little place by my house and have lunch + tea.
I tried a veggie tamaki cone the other day.. It was a cone of rice, oshinko( pickled radish), cucumber, avocado and mayo. So good.

My fav at this place is called the Chef's spicy Uramaki roll.. It's an outside roll with yam tempura, avocado, cucumber and siracha.... Mmmm... Spicy.

They have great spinach and miso soup too. I usually get a filling and healthy lunch with a pot of tea for $10.
