But I am not a big fan of ginger, so I think it may be overpowering after looking at the ingredients. Since it's quite expensive, the poor student side of me kicked in, and I never got it.

Anyways, thus far, I'm using Renee's Asian Sesame for my stir frys, but it does have a lot of calories for one tablespoon - I think 45 cals or so.
I got the recipe from Vegan Lunch Box. It's by far my favorite dressing. Hopefully, it'll work for you, too. If you don't have the book, she has the recipe online here: http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/20...e-occured.html

I'm a bit embarassed to post my food for the day, but am going to do it anyway. Eventually, the embarassment may overcome my desire to nosh on less than nutritionally stellar foods.

B - WW Bagel with Earth Balance. Pretzels. Diet Coke.
    Water. Water.
S - A taffy I found in my purse leftover from Halloween. D'oh!
    Water.
S - Banana and pumpkin seeds. 1/2 Diet Coke.
    Water.
L - Leftover sweet potato, baked beans, and baby greens with apples, sunflower seeds, and Asian Miracle dressing. 1/2 Diet Coke. Water.
S - Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Hershey Kiss. Water.
    Water.
D - Plain veggie burger and Fries (Burger King ). Diet Coke.
S - 1 mini candy bar. 4 PB sandwich cookies. Soy Milk.

This morning, I did 15 minutes of crunches, pushups, Tae Kwon Do kicks, and yoga stretches. ETA - I forgot we also went for a short walk before dinner.

Tomorrow, I will drink less soda and eat less sweets. I will also do another 15 minutes of some sort of activity.

On a side note, I found out my baby and I were exposed to H1N1 at my office's Halloween party on Friday. I know we'll all be exposed to it at some point. I was just hoping to make it until there were vaccinations in my area and my son was old enough to get one. *fingers crossed that if we get it it will be mild*

Gym tonight! My "training session" where they blabber at me in Japanese and I... stare blankly... Sigh.

Dinner last night and lunch today were both a little calorie heavy, but they were pretty healthy and delicious! Quinoa with chickpeas, sauteed/fried (more oil than sauteeing, less than frying?) green peppers and eggplant, tomatoes and avocado, and a small salad of romaine, sunflower seeds and homemade sesame dressing. I could just eat that dressing 24/7.

Not doing particularly well on water so far, about to finish and refill my bottle and keep trying!

Also had tried to instigate a twice-weekly raw day, but now that it's cold I have absolutely no interest since I hadn't gotten used to doing it yet. Maybe I'll just stick to my smoothie breakfasts and that'll be the extent of it until next spring!

Woke up to 43F (6C) weather this morning, and it was about the same in my apartment - I could see my breath while making breakfast. Japan needs to understand the joy that is insulation.

Right! I am not going to post my weight, just so no one blushes!
But I do have goals..these are to start excercising! So easy to curl up indoors with chocolates whilst it rains outside!
no snacking in between meals, apart from fruit and nuts
    lots of water
    only one coffee a day!
    good luck to you all!!

.............. so, a year and a half ago, before I started going to the gym, I was 32% body fat apparently, which is borderline obese... though I definitely wasn't obese (not even overweight, actually). I was 140lbs. I'm medium framed (5'3"), curvy, and have large amounts of muscle in my back and legs.

(insert a year and a half where I lost 10 lbs and then gained them back ).

Now, after a year and a half, I'm 141 and... 40% body fat? I mean, I know I gained back the weight I lost in 2008. And while I probably added some fat and lost a little muscle of what I lost/added while losing that 10 lbs, I look and feel about what I did at 140 lbs and 32%. So how am I now ridiculously beyond morbidly obese according to my body fat? It honestly doesn't make sense.

The trainer says I'm at high risk for stroke... which I doubt... She also says I need to be under 24% body fat to even begin to get close to healthy... but this is Japan. In the US under 31% is okay, though under 24% is better.

This makes me not want to go to the gym at all. If, even though I look normal weight, I'm actually morbidly obese...? What's the damn point? F*** that.

    /rant.

Oh.......rockindancer86 I know you sound like your disappointed, but I'm sure you are much healthier for working out all the time. A lot of people (ME) do not move enough.

You said the standards in Japan are different. If you could understand them they are probably telling you how good you are!!

    Hang in there girl.

Numbers, scales, diets, and all those other things that can truly stress us out. I'm tired of it too-lol. But I do know (and I think we all know) that working out isn't just about the weight about about keeping our bodies active- which can do a world of good.
Also, I wouldn't sweat the body fat thing unless you went to the doctor and they did that thing where they put you under water and see if you float. From what I read that is the most accurate way to determine body fat. All the other ways can be off by 2-4 % so I've read. When I measured mine recently with one method I had a percent of 22% on another method I had 25%. So there is a margin for error.
Whatever the case, don't let the numbers get you down. You should go by how you feel and the energy you have. Although if a DOCTOR tells you there is reason for some exercise and diet changes I would take it into consideration. Then again if its your trainer then you may not take it as seriously.

My multi-quote isn't working, so pardon me if I mess up.

I wonder if they have different measurements for Japanese women that don't correlate to other cultures? I think I remember reading somewhere that the "inner workings" are somewhat different. I'll have to try and find that before I put my foot in my mouth. I agree, though, that numbers should be thrown in the .

Jinga, I hope you and your little one stay safe and healthy.

So I hopped on the scale this morning. The feeling that I've swallowed a tire is now abated and I feel lighter and not puffy.

    Height: 5'7"

    Weight: 173.8 (down from 174.6 October 24th.)

I started my weight-loss journey at 181.8 in August, but I was all the way up to about 185-ish in July. So that means I've lost more than 10 pounds!

Now that I've started walking again, I'm sure that will help. I am also planning on going to the gym again and doing some other forms of cardio. Weight training, I know, is helpful but I'm going to hold off on that until I get some of this weight off. Weight training is awesome for me when I don't huff and puff through a workout. I've done this in the past with great results.
