Amy, thanks for your concern. I did consider taking the dog to the Houston SPCA ( I live in the Clear Lake area, which is just outside of Houston) but I just felt bad at the thought of having her in a kennel when she could stay in our home until the owner was located. I did have her checked for a chip, but there was none.We also put up signs but got no response. Our plan was to keep her with us and if no owner was found, we would foster her and work to have her adopted through Second Chance Pets. As a matter of fact, I was just getting ready to send a photo to them to post on their site.
As for the kitty, she was found in Pasadena, which is about 45 minutes from Houston. The SPCA gave me instructions to "contact the local animal control agency" as they will not pick up cats in Pasadena(which is where I work). That's when I called the vet we used back when we lived in Pasadena, but they had no help to offer. I then called the Feline Medical Center here in Clear Lake and was given the number of the individual who does the trapping.
I watch Animal Cops Houston all the time, and have visited the Houston SPCA a couple of times. It's a very nice facility and they do a great job. I wish they could have picked up the kitty.
