EDIT: Oh, I see the thread was posted on the 28th... lol, I was in the Welsh wilderness then, no Times there. :P
I just clicked on it and the article came up fine for me. Maybe it was your internet connection? Try again.

Can see it now - although I actually found the links to the archive more interesting, on the 1851 Vegetarian Society meeting etc.

How can people fail to see that not eating meat HELPS the environment? It is mental as is for humans to be bringing life into the world simply in order to kill it. WTF?

Maybe they do but because meat tastes soooooooooooooooo good they prefer to come up with some lame and confused drivel about that meat eating actually helps the environment or something. Sad.

I read the comments. Most of them are from people who clearly aren't well informed. But I just saw this comment, which was recommended by 103 clicks: "I'd sooner die, and have all of my family, friends and acquaintances die, than give up meat. Lord Stern does not reflect the attitudes of right thinking patriots like me who will continue to eat meat come hell or high water."

Holy bleep! I know that some people enjoy consuming meat, but this... This is outrageous! I certainly hope the commenter was merely exaggerating his/her desire for this opiate to which many in the world seem so helplessly addicted.
