Nope, that means your a strong vegetarian! I actually think it takes a lot more to actually still want to eat meat and be a vegetarian than not have the cravings at all. Plus, I think it's perfectly normal. I had cravings for meat for a *very* long time (like, years & years) after becoming vegetarian and actually caved in quite a few times. However, the cravings got less and less and eventually went away. Now I'm going through the same thing with dairy.*sigh*

Just hang in there and don't feel bad about it! You've got a great place for support here!

I don't really ever remember craving meat because I stopped eating it when I finally was just too grossed out to put it in my body any more, and at that point, it just wasn't appetizing. Now a lot of the time if meat is cooking and I don't know it (i'm 2 floors below the kitchen here in my room) I'll be walking upstairs and be like "ugh, this place stinks, what'd you do??" and realize they were making dinner. Oops. HAHA

I don't crave meat usually (it's been 6 years) but sometimes it still smells good. I don't think that will ever go away. Smell is a powerful reminder of emotion, etc.

I do sometimes think about eating seafood. Just surround yourself with lots of great vegetarian food and you'll be fine. Congratualations on your new vegetarianism.

I don't think that's a bad thing at all, if it doesn't lead to being an omnivore again, heh. I think meat smells very good and I could eat lots of it - same applies to fish and dairy - but I don't. And I'm a person who I think has very strong AR beliefs. Like said, if it takes a lot more to resist, one is a strong vegetarian.

Same with me! Though sometimes a roasted chicken will come through my line at work and it smells good. I realize it's really just the chicken rub that smells good, and if the chicken was rub-free the smell would probably make me sick!

Definitely! Stick around here. Hang around veggies (both people (even if online) and the vegetables too!) Read about how animals live. Reconfirm your beliefs. Stick to it! Educate yourself.

Soon you'll be so brainwashed you'll think meat is gross.

i dont think youre a bad vegetarian

people normally enjoy the foods they grew up eating...

ive been a vegetarian for almost 12 years and vegan for 5 years.... and i still think the smell of steak and other animal products smells good

if it didnt, why the hell would they make tons of meat/dairy analogues for us to enjoy?

you arent any worse of a vegetarian than one that eats fake turkey or beef or whatever

the point is that you dont eat meat, plain and simple

i think youre a great vegetarian, hang in there!

    dont be cruel... be vegan!

just because im vegan, it doesnt mean i have to be nice...

If I ever crave meat (not that often), I try to immediatly realize what it is...just immediatly think of the live version, and suddenly it's not so tempting anymore Also whenever you crave it/see it, try to remember it's actually a dead carcass, it's like eating a dead body

    I'm in agreement w/ scareyvegan.

I ate spaghetti w/ soymeat not five minutes ago, so I guess I'm one of those guys. i like the analogues.

But surprisingly, when you see meat outright, such as a steak, you wonder whether it is actually food after you've been veg for six years, or at least I do anyway. After you've not eaten meat in a while, you lose your taste for it, or a lot of people do anyway.

Congrats on being veggie! There's plenty of fake meat out there, like fake ground beef and the like, so you can make dishes similar to those you've enjoyed before:

And there are plenty of great dishes which don't try to imitate meat dishes, and make beans, vegetables or grains the centre of the meal, like this delicious example:
