And sorry, I guess, don't know how well did you know her.
I mean it's sweet that she's thinking of her friend... but it's kind of a weird thing to do... I don't know, she's probably just confused and grieving.

Thanks, too, I didn't really know her that well, she was a few grades below me, but still.

This part is especially disturbing if you take it out of context lol

"im having steak for dinner n ill b thinking of you."

Rincewind: "You know, I think the problem with a lot of Omnivores is they don't know the definition of things. Like 'clean'. Or 'fish'. Or 'chicken'. Or 'I do not eat that, for god's sake stop offering me, I don't care how good you say it is, I'm not going to eat it'."

I can't remember if I mentioned this one before, but it came up again.

Me (reminiscing about my exchange program in Thailand): "They had all flavours of instant ramen noodles, even duck".
My sister: "I never eat duck anymore. I feed ducks at the park, and they're so cute, so I can't eat them anymore"
Me: "We used to feed the cows on the farm we lived at when we were kids."
Her: "That was a long time ago, and besides, cows aren't as cute as ducks".

There is vegan mock duck, and even artificially-flavored "duck" ramens.

Find a store that caters to east Asians, and they should have all that good stuff.

Maybe the Earth would be better off without us.
    Safe and clean and perfect.
Like a toy nobody ever played with.
    Pretty and pointless.

Am I the only one that gets annoyed by friends (or family) telling you what kind of meat they ate or are going to eat..? My friend likes to talk about meat like I'm an omni, or offer me things with dairy or eggs in it.. I told her I don't eat that stuff but it's like she doesn't understand why I avoid it. :/ Just aggrivating.

The mock duck is my favourite meal ever! My local chinese back home does it with the pancakes and cucumber and stuff, and then I get an order of fried mushrooms, spring rolls and veg friend rice. It's all veg-friendly, reasonably priced, and they now know me in there so whenever I phone through my order for "the usual" it's ready in 5 minutes, no matter how busy they are

I've just made myself really hungry and I'm currently 230 miles from that takeaway... damn

I'm utterly speechless. The man I work for is a complete idiot who believes himself to be the end all be all in his field yet, he has a way of making the simplest thing mystifying. This is a man who councils people about their diet and lifestyle every day.

We're discussing a new patient. She happens to go to his church and she has told both him and his wife (who also works in the office) that she's vegetarian. His wife tells me first while we're at yoga this morning but lets me know that she may or may not eat chicken broth and the occasional fish. She's rational so I explain that vegetarians do not eat any of these things... ever. She agrees but says she's just not very "strict". I have worked with both her and his for over a year. They know these things.

Later this morning when we have our meeting we go over all the day's events and the new patient comes up again. This time they both say that she's likely not getting enough protein. I couldn't help it and just blurted out, "That's quite the stereotype." To which my chiropractor says, "It's not. I truly believe that's part of her problem." I clenched my mouth and didn't say anything else.

Later, after I've had my interview with her, I'm discussing the new patient with the chiropractor and he says the same thing about how she's vegetarian but he adds that it's ok because she still eats fish and chicken sometimes. I've pretty much had it with all the ill-informed vegetarian comments at this point. I say well then what are you so worried about her protein intake for? Clearly if she eats fish and chicken and is not, in fact, vegetarian then there's nothing to worry about. He then says... (OMG I still can't believe it) ... Beachbnny... She's not VEGAN or anything. She eats fish and chicken and stuff. She has a vegetarian restricted diet but she's not vegan.

I have no idea what I said after that because my head exploded.

Ah so frustrating! My dad also thinks vegans eat fish while veggies don't.
