  1. Just Bought My First Tofurkey Roast!

Holy cow, there's a heck of a lot more to cooking this thing than I thought! I hope it's worth it. Well over 3 hours in the oven and some prep to do too. Oh well, I'll give it a shot. We are having dinner on Sunday night (celebrating Thanksgiving early) so it's thawing now. Crossing my...

  3. Discovery is not vegan friendly!

So I love to watch most things on the Discovery chanel. However I have noticed that they show some stupid ****. I am watching a show on the Colossal Squid and there is some boat who accidentally snagged a live C.Sqid and try for hours to captivate it leaving it half out of water and half in...

  4. I am becoming less and less tolerant to meat eaters...

I've been a vegetarian for several months. It's just in the past week or so, that I'm becoming more and more disgusted at people around me eating meat. Today I had lunch with three friends. I had a salad and vegetable sandwich, while they chewed and choked on various dishes, all laden with...

Hey Everyone, So I am currently at work (emergency vet clinic) and everyone knows I am vegan and aside from little jokes, they are all cool with it. Well there are a few people who like to tease me about what I eat (currently, It was an amazing bunch of veggies on a tray) For some reason...

Hi all, I had my first bowl of Tofutti strawberry frozen dessert yesterday and it tasted ok, but it was kinda....powdery. Does anyone know of any alternatives that are available in the UK? What do you prefer? Thanks!

  7. Living Among Meat Eaters: The Vegetarian's Survival Handbook By Carol J. Adams

Man, I dig this book. I'm reading the preview on google books, and am greatly impressed. I wish I had this book 20 years ago ... :) The fact that Adams' approach to the problem of 'life among the savages' (Henry Salt reference :) ) closely mirrors my own has nothing to do with my...

  11. Witty Responses to "Stupid things omnivores say"?

As a follow-up to the thread "Stupid things omnivores say..." Being a lifelong vegetarian, I have heard SOOO many of those stupid comments and ignorant people... I can SOOO relate... And I never can think of anything snappy to reply with. Sure, I can correct their misconseptions, quote the...

  12. A few great veg*n experiences!

First, it's kind of hard to eat vegetarian in Texas. Land of meat eaters! But I wanted to share a couple experiences at some Houston restaurants! I'm going to name them, for those here in Houston! Nit Noi- I ordered tofu pad thai. The waitress asked me if I wanted to keep the eggs in! I guess...

  13. I'm influencing people =]

I just got a text saying, "Just so you know, you're rubbing off on me. In a good way." I asked how and he said, "I was just eating a pie. I got a quarter of the way through and had to give it to my brother. Cos I couldn't stop thinking of a calf." I said, "I think that's fantastic. :)" He is now...

  14. Again feeling bad on the vegetarian diet

One thing I observed that when I always go vegetarian I last out about 3-4 weeks and then develop: - concentration problems  - a sensation of hunger that seems to get satiated with meat :furious: - thinking a lot about food :hungry: - protein paranoia and obsessing about weight ...

  15. I Don't Look Like a Vegetarian!

Isn't that good news? Someone offered me some BBQ chicken today at work and when I told her "No thanks, I'm a vegetarian" she told me that I didn't look like a vegetarian. I didn't know how to respond, so I didn't. I do wish I had a snappy one-liner for that statement. :brood:

  16. Master list of Vegetarian fast-food options

Okay, so not sure if this is the right place. Feel free to move it if so. Okay, now what I'd like to know is what are some vegetarian options while eating on the run. For instance, at Taco Bell I could order a bean burrito, a potato soft taco, a taco sub for beans. At Burger King, I could...

  17. Help me figure out my next cookbook purchase!

As long as I've been a vegetarian, I've responded to stress by buying cookbooks. I get lost in new cookbooks very easily. They've proven to be great vehicles towards stepping away from things ... This hasn't been something I've done during the past five years (life actually was TOO stressful to...

I saw Brendan Brazier speak last night, and he mentioned he is working with T. Colin Campbell (author of The China Study) on this certificate program at Cornell University. They are hoping it will evolve into a degree program eventually, but I think it's cool they are offering this right now. And,...
