Not sure if this type of thread would be accepted here, but ah well. I'm hoping some of you may be able to help.

I have no job and it's VERY hard to find one these days. I've been looking into stuff like taking paid surveys online and the "Mammoth List", but I doubt the validity of these things. If anyone here can verify whether or not these things actually work, or if anyone has any other suggestions, it'd be greatly appreciated. :]

I do "inbox dollars". They DO pay up...however, it takes an eternity practically to get up to that $30 minimum. (You have to have earned $30 before you can request a check...they won't write one for less.) I've gotten two checks from them...but stupidly misplaced the second one and didn't find it again until two months after it had expired. I had cancelled my account but decided a month ago to start it up again.

They used to pay $1 per survey, but now it's only 50 cents. Sometimes you waste a lot of time trying to qualify for a survey. Sometimes you fill out a survery that takes a long time only to get knocked off at the end because the company (not inbox, people they deal with) decides you don't fit the proper demographics. I have to be pretty bored before I try to do surveys.

The "e-mails" that you read for money? It's only 2 cents per e-mail. Sometimes you only get one a day. That doesn't really add up quickly.

However, if you like to shop, try free offers, try trial offers, etc., you can earn more money and faster. But, generally, I think that the people who actually do these things do so for the money and can't really afford to shop or pay to play games.

I think that the first check for $30 took me nearly three months to earn. I don't remember how long it took for the second one. oh, and a nasty surprise is that they charge you something like $3-$4 to write the check....so the check is less than what you expected. I think this is to encourage people not to request a pay out every time they hit $30 but to keep earning and not request a pay out until their account is much higher. My guess, only.

Really, I wouldn't recommend it as any sort of way to earn money. I do it just because it's really easy and getting money eventually is just a nice surprise.

The company I am with has been around with a fantastic reputation for over 50 years! Can't be a scam! :)

Past performance often predicts future performance.

What company is that?

other than the survey type opportunities, selling stuff you don't use or can easily get for free is a good way to make money online.
amazon is great for selling books and other media, it is easy to setup an account and sell.
ebay of course is great for selling ANYTHING!
craigslist.org is a good source for finding free stuff to sell and also to put your stuff up for sale. cl is also a good place to post services offered and look for odd jobs here and there, i have found several house cleaning clients from cl.

Would you be interested in any home businesses? It does require a decent investment usually and it does take a lot of work to make money. It's the only legitimate way to make money decent money online, at least that I've heard about.

www.globaltestmarket.com is a paid survery site. 1000 points = $50 (the minium payout) you get 5-50 points, normally, per survery. (depending if you qualify/how long it is). It is real and I have gotten multiple payouts from them. but it takes a while to get up to the 1000.

EDIT: they also don't charge a fee to write a check like alot of sites do. If you request $50, that is what you will get.

I've heard of people joining chacha. You google around to answer questions people submit and get paid per answer.

another one is www.moola.com I havn't used it a lot and havn't gotten up to the minium pay out yet. They do charge $5 if you want your payout in a check, and not with paypal. You play games to earn money. (because you watch an ad before everygame. thats how they earn the money to pay you).
There's a forum where many people post 'pay proofs'.

I belong to numerous survey sites and no way are you going to make much actual cash. I just accumulated enough points at one place for a $30 check. This took months and months to earn however. Other sites you earn points and can "buy" gift cards. I have earned many over the years but it takes a long time to get enough points and the merchants tend to raise the number you need for a giftcard. I have gotten some good stuff though. It is more a fun thing to do than a money making enterprise however.

It can't replace a job, but extra money is always nice.

www.zoompanel.com doesnt offer money or gift cards, but different amount of points (starting at 1000) lets you buy different things in their shop. the lowest level is mostly books and movies.

I belong to zoompanel among MANY others. :D My favorite one I have been on for YEARS, maybe 10 years by now, but I won't tell what it is because I get points for referrals. If you want to know, PM me.

I used to use GPTreasure (http://gptreasure.com/register.php?ref=Dainty) but now I'm using Get Paid To (http://getpaidto.com/?ref=35727 ). You take surveys and there is no minimum payout. You have have it sent to PayPal, or other things (specified on the site).

I also joined Treasure Trooper (http://www.treasuretrooper.com/483964), but I don't like it as much. :3

And then there's Say Nation (http://www.saynation.com). I haven't had enough points to get paid yet, though.

And I joined tons more, but they aren't worth mentioning. :|

If you live in an area where there are a lot of research facilities (e.g. universities, etc.), you can try participating in research trials. I am not talking about medical ones where you put stuff in or on your body (I would personally never do that), but there are places around here where for example they test radio listeners preferences so you just need to listen to radio stations for a few hours and press different buttons, or test foreign language acquisition so they give you a test in a rare language like Cambodian and see how fast you "learn" it, etc. Usually those advertise in places like the City Paper or Craigslist for "volunteers" but many give you a small fee of $40-$50 if you participate.

Have any of you used mechanical turk? It's reliable because it's a part of Amazon and there's no minimum required to transfer to a US bank account or amazon gift certificates, but you still can't really amass very much at all. Like 1 to 10 cents at a time for most things.

Making money online is just as hard as making money in real life. Stay away from all that crap like surveys and stuff. The best way to make money (long term) is to work with websites. Take a look at the following forums:

forums.digitalpoint.com
webtalkforums.com

Buy a domain name, create a website and aim to get as much traffic as possible. The more traffic you get the more money you make. Alternatively you could learn how to design/code websites, learn graphic design, write content for people or flip websites (i.e. buying and selling at a higher price).

Just take a look at the forums that I mentioned because there are loads of information on them.
