What is Vegan Drinks Philly?
The first Vegan Drinks started up in NYC in May 2008 and was a product of SuperVegan.com. Since then, Vegan Drinks have been popping up in cities across the nation. So, what exactly is Vegan Drinks? Here's the lowdown from VeganDrinks.org:

Vegan Drinks is a monthly social networking* event for people interested in promoting veganism and advocating for animal rights. Vegan Drinks’ mission is to bring together a diverse group of people—from cupcake aficionados to animal lawyers to veg*ns of all stripes in between—to build new coalitions and promote the sharing of resources. Vegan Drinks is for newbies and oldies. All we expect is an interest in animal rights, veganism and the pursuit of after-work fun. Show up and introduce yourself, pass around business cards (if you've got ‘em) and embarrass yourself at least once an hour.

*Although we think love is grand, Vegan Drinks is not a singles’ event. But, if you happen to meet the love of your life at Vegan Drinks, don't forget to invite us to the wedding!

Now, yet another Vegan Drinks takes root here in Philadelphia, founded by Ed Coffin of eatingconsciously.com in January 2009. So, put down the leaflets and sit back to network and socialize with like-minded individuals. Together we can cultivate ideas, spread the vegan message, and work towards our one common goal- ANIMAL LIBERATION.

Make sure you know when the next event is by subscribing. Your email will only be used for and by Vegan Drinks Philly. http://www.vegandrinksphilly.blogspot.com/

Ugh, I just now saw this today. :( I would've loved to have gone last night, I really like Horizon's, too!

Did anybody go? I couldn't because I had plans. I'm just curious about how it was. I love Horizons, too.

Go on facebook join Vegan Drinks Philly or add the organizer to your friends list if you want to know how the event went.

I signed up for the Vegan Drinks Philly e-mails, and the next one is Thursday, June 18:

Not sure I can go, but I thought I'd post it here for anyone interested.

Thanks for posting that, I don't have facebook so I haven't joined up on there. I don't think I'll be able to make it since I'm about an hour and a half from Philly, so it'd be a late night for me. But maybe I'll change my mind when it gets closer.

You're welcome. I'd like to go, but I have plans for that night. If they fall through, though, I likely would attend this. Horizons has tasty food and a wonderful pomegranate sangria :)

I had their pomegranate sangria the one time I've been there (my husband took me as a surprise for my birthday!) and it was very good. The food was absolutely delicious as well.

I went to the one in May and I'll be going this Thursday as well. It was fun.
BTW- I live over an hour away...it's worth it. Just have to cut yourself off after 2 drinks...lol.

I went last month and I'll be going again this month. It was a great time, met lots of interesting people. And of course, I love any reason to eat at Horizons...my favorite restaurant ever. :D

I'm glad to here you guys had a good time.

I am not trying to sound negative, but I am reluctant to go because the gathering has so many people. I know someone who went to one of the events. She told me that many people go their to hang out with their friends; if you go alone its difficult to get involved in a conversation kinda like being at a party where you don't know anyone.

I might go one time to see what it's like, although, I prefer to hang out in smaller groups where I can get to know people.
