View Full Version : 10 Items Or Less

The already distasteful "comedy" on TBS known as 10 Items Or Less just hit a new low. There most recent advertisements highlight the idea that the Greens & Grains manager has decided to prepare beef, live for the customers. The commercial shows, the entire staff standing over a cow holding cleavers as the manager says “Keep hacking ’till she stops moving.”

Soon after the staff are seen running down the grocery store's aisles screaming "There's blood everywhere! It's EVERYWHERE!!!"

Who else has seen this and has similar thoughts about the show? And if you haven't seen this show, what are your thoughts on it regarding this information?

I haven't seen that particular episode but I tried watching the show once because it got some good reviews. I didn't find it all that great or funny at all.

That sounds like such a horrible show premise it might make me cry if I watched it.

That is just not right. It is disgusting to me that people can watch junk like that and still eat the animal. I've never seen the show, and now I certainly never will.

The advertisement is followed by the TBS slogan, "very funny", which makes me want to punch out the television screen.

I've seen that promo. I thought it was sick. I've never watched the show, and after that promo, I don't plan to watch. It was in poor taste.

I guess I take the opposite approach. I've never seen the show but I have seen the commercial. I think anything that reminds people of where meat comes from and the fact that there's cruelty and blood involved is a good thing. Even if it's presented in a humorous manner it may make some people think.

I understand what you're saying but I disagree.

I think it re-instills in meat-eaters' minds the supposed fact that "cows are just there to be eaten, and hey, we can even have a laugh and joke about chopping them up, such is our total disregard for animal rights..."

Even if people do think it's funny it's not like it's going to encourage them to go out and do it. And even though it might be funny it doesn't mean it won't make people a bit uncomfortable. In fact, I'd say that's why it's funny.

Tell that to the creators of Jackass. They've been exploiting animals for their own laughs since the very beginning.

I'm with Licence on this one.

I've never seen them hack a live cow to death on Jackass.

Well there's a distinct difference there. Ones acting, the other is real. I don't think Jackass would get away with hacking up a cow, but instead they make due with all other sorts of morbid detestable acts.

Ironically, if you look up Jackass and animal abuse, you'll find articles where they claim to stand against it, while they... ...well, see for yourself. (http://www.channel4.com/film/reviews/feature.jsp?id=159268)

The point is, animals are abused for the purpose of entertainment. It shouldn't matter how they do it, but the fact that it's done.

Hopefully they also have 10 viewers or less.

I heard the commercial for this on the radio yesterday. It must've been a clip from the show.

Person 1- "What are you guys DOING?"

Person 2 (something along these lines)-- "We're hacking up a cow and selling its meat to our customers."

I thought that line might actually help someone make the connection.

I can't imagine what would be more disturbing. Seeing it on TV or hearing it on the radio.
