thought i'd take a break from my apartmentratings.com research to ask my fellow VBers if they had any advice for someone moving to Seattle?
any areas in particular to avoid moving into?
Any student-friendly apartments close to vegan-friendly restaurants/grocery stores?
i'm considering attending Seattle Central Community College this next year.
opinions? first-hand experiences? let me know!

Isn't that the school on Capitol Hill? If so, I love that area! I don't know of any Vegan stores, but there are quite a few Trader Joes and Whole Foods around here. I can't exactly say which neighborhoods are best, since everyone has their own opinion on what a good neighborhood is like. =]

good neighborhood= my car won't get broken into, (it's not a particularly high-end car)

I don't know that area that well, there is a lot of apts, and houses in that area, which cater to the various colleges.
Now that I think about it that area does have a lot of college students in it.
Off the top of my head I couldn't give you names of vegan places but Seattle is full of them, I am sure there will be some in and around Capitol Hill.
Not sure where your coming from, but I would recommend start looking for next yr now. Housing in Seattle can still be at a premium, especially in the college areas.
Have you contacted the school and asked for any info on housing in the area? Or seen if there is a message board for the school where someone might be looking for a room mate, or renting an apt?

Oh, and I forgot to mention that my favorite Vegan restaurant, The Teapot, is in the U District, right up Broadway, which is very close to Capitol Hill. =D

You have a few more restuarants to recommend? The wife and I are visiting next month.
