I just recently started an account with this website and it is really cool:

www.livestrong.com

It allows you to track your daily food intake and calorie intake. You can also track your workouts and take dares to improve yourself. It is really cool and free for the most part. There is a gold membership that you can pay for but I don't see a need.

So if you want to track your daily calorie intake, workouts and see your carb/protein and fat ratio this is the site for you. It also has recipes from popular vegan cookbooks and vegan foods in the food listing so it is easy to add foods. Much, much better then fitday.com if any of you are using that.

ok I just joined this thing, and did the BMI, and it put me as ALMOST obese?!?! I don't look or feel obese, I'm about 20 lbs overweight, maybe less. 10 lbs ago I thought I looked quite good. Since when is a size 12 obese? :(

Am I freaking out for good reason and need to cut back on the triscuits or are these things typically accurate? I'm 5'7 and have fairly big hands/wrists/bone structure. Is that it?

BMI is only a very general measurement. It doesn't take into account body structure or muscle mass, so if you're large-framed or muscular, it won't be a correct number.

Yeah I wouldn't freak out. BMI is the least accurate of all measurements.

thank goodness. I was really upset today about it and made my other half go buy me salad bags to eat while he fried himself some dinner and ate delicious looking leftover lasagna.

All the same, I weighed myself today and somehow I weigh 6 lbs more than I thought I did, which was 10 lbs than I wanted to weigh in the first place. So 16 lb goal for... sometime in the future. I'm just tracking my calories and trying to stay slightly below where the things tells me to stay.

having that salad instead of my leftover vegan lasagna saved me like 400-600 calories though! And I learned my wine glass was really 2 glasses, so I only filled it half way for my obligatory glass-of-red-a-day.

Yeah this website has really opened my eyes to what I eat. At least you now have a tool to get you on track if you so choose. But 16lbs isn't so bad when you think about it. A little tweaking and lots of fruits and veggies and you could be there in no time. :)

I must have been retaining a crazy amount of water or something, after two days of it (and eating enough calories, just healthier, raw food and oatmeal mostly), 7 lbs have come off. It had to be mostly water, maybe a little fat. So I'm going to just try to lose the last 9, then set a new goal, this seems so much easier.

And the small goal thing makes me happy, I used to always set huge goals and never once reached them.

ETA: honestly, I never realized just how many calories were in my beer! :-/

yup, alcohol is calorie packed. I never realized it until I started at this website. :-/

Congrats on the shedding of 7lbs! :pibo:

thanks! My friend made me oreo vegan cupcakes today, I was able to calculate that there were only 200 calories in each by adding all the ingredients and dividing on the add new meal part.

MY problem was I ate two :)

How are you doing there?

mmmmmmmmmm, oreo cupcakes! :D Were those from vegan cupcakes take over the world? I am going to make vegan peanut butter cookies today. :lick:

I am doing well, thanks. Went to a holiday party for my company last night and I had a veggie plate. I don't even know how to calculate that because I am not even 100% sure what it was. It was like a ton of veggies in a sauce with some bread slices on the side. It was good though! I also had a few drinks, I am sure I went over my calories yesterday but that's fine. I usually end up way under.

if you want to be friends on this website my user name is cullenjamie. :)
