Okay, my brother's gym just opened and I REALLY need to start working out again. I'd like to get my iPod all set up with some good work out tunes. What do you guys listen to when you're running your heart out, pumping iron, etc? Thanks :) Peace & Love!!

Ex girl used to jam to damian marley. He has this one song called move, that's pretty hard hitting, and she thought it lent perfectly to work out

Be-all, end-all fave running music is Foo Fighters.

Other favorites:
She Wants Revenge
Evanescence
Tool
Alice in Chains
Anberlin
AFI

I'm definitely forgetting some, but those are the ones that come to mind right now.

For me, it's gotta have tempo, and be loud and make me wanna move.
If it's not driving, I'm not pushing as hard as I can.

:hamster: Good luck Nickle!

Well, I don't "run" precisely, but when I go for a wheel I listen to: Cruxshadows, Nightwish, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Blue Oyster Cult, Bride, and some peppier Keith Green.

Well, it depends on personal taste, but I listen to The Killers when I'm working out; some of their album tracks (particularly on Sam's Town) really build in momentum and push me to run harder and faster towards the end. (ie. Bling, which starts slowly but builds towards a chant of "Higher and higher, we're gonna take it down to the wire, we're gonna make it out of the fire, higher and higher..." etc and really spurs me forward.)

I think the main thing is just to find songs that you really love (so that you have incentive to go and actually work out) and ensure that they have good, strong beat to keep you going. Motivational lyrics are a bonus, but not necessary if you love the tune.

Sometimes when I'm really struggling for motivation, I ban myself from listening to a certain CD or a certain favourite song except when exercising. That means that when I want to get my music fix, I'm forced to go and hit the elliptical. Suddenly exercise is not a punishment; it's one of the high points of my day, because I'm being rewarded for doing it.

I second Foo Fighters.

I listen to a variety of music when working out, mostly Paul Oakenfold, Moby, Prodigy and the like.

There is one song I listen to in particular when I work out that gets me going:

gDfKCzMuLMc

Makes me run faster to keep up with the beat :)

Actually, there are quite a few BEP songs with the beat you can work out to. I'm not typically a fan of that type of music, but I do like some of their songs.

I must confess... some Britney Spears songs are good for working out too :sealed:

That's a lot like what is usually played at the spin class I go to.
Definitely gets the pedals moving!

I've run to Bling several times. It's great. :)

Anything upbeat that makes me feel like dancing. Lately, I've been addicted to Madonna's Hard Candy for workout music.

for sure. i thought i had pretty good cardio fitness until i did one of those classes once!! ever been to a karaoke spin session? my partner and i and pixelle and her partner, all went to one when we were over your side of the world earlier this year. that was quite a laugh. altho i think i spent more time on the floor singing than i did pushing the pedals :)

Nope, I've never been to nor heard of spin karaoke. That sound potentially very amusing though. The only noises emanating from my body whilst spinning are usually of the groaning, guttural type.

lol. yeah its pretty weird and surreal when you stop & think for a moment about what youre actually doing. youre in a steamy room surrounded by all these people riding bikes that arent going anywhere, & singing really cheesy songs into microphones. thats entertainment !! [i think?] :D
