i hear ya. i'm broke as heck and i got the strangest look from my father when i said i was going to adopt a turkey. it's my first year adopting, too, and i'd like to keep it up. -crosses fingers-

I adopted Echo when I saw this thread over the weekend. I was telling my coworkers and they thought I actually brought a live turkey home! I think it's sad that if I said I saved a whale or whatever they would know what I was talking about but adopting a turkey and somehow it's a pet...
