Has anyone heard of/used Swap Tree? (http://www.swaptree.com) It's a free site to trade books, music, movies, and games. You add things to your 'have' list, and your 'want' list. It's pretty cool!

I just joined today. I used to be a member of www.barterbee.com, which is the same thing, but without books. I have a lot of books to get rid of, too, so this ssite should be useful!

I just added the book P.S. I love you to my have list, and it came up with 951 items I can trade it for. (So, those people have this book on their 'want' list, and these are the items on their 'have' list, so I can trade with them)
Barterbee is a bit different, as in you don't do direct trading with people but sell and buy with points.

I added 43 books, and that matched me up with 12,688 items (11,148 books, 991 cds, 475 movies, 54 games) I can choice from to trade.

You can get free shipping credits if you refer friends. (You can print the postage directly from the website). So, if you want to sign up, if you could PM me your email address, I could love to invite you. For every friend you get to sign up who makes a trade, you get 1 free shipping credit. :)

I just wanted to bump this now that I've made more trades on here. It's a great site and I'm really addicted to it! One great thing about it, is they offer both 2-way and 3-way trades (most trades are 3-way), this makes for more matches being set up. I love the 'get it now' list, and being able to browse it and see everything that was matched up with my books. You can also add items to your want list (even if it's on your 'get it now' list and you just dont want to trade that item for it.)
When you add an item to your 'have list', it shows you all the items you can currently trade it for.
Overall it's a great site and I've had ton of sucess with it. The only trouble I've had is one person taking a little while to ship, but the book was in great condition when I got it. All my other trades have been shipped fast.
It has a great option (which I personally don't use but might in the future) that lets you print off address lables from their site so you don't have to take a trip to the post office. For those of you who havn't heard of this site, you should really really check it out!!

Just wanted to add that the offer of getting a free shipping lable for referring people (and having them sign up and make a trade) was over a few days after this thread was started. You can still send email invites to your friends, but AFAIK, you don't get anything for it anymore.

Well, they started the free shipping thing back!
Get free postage by inviting your friends to join Swaptree!
If you invite a friend to join Swaptree and they sign up and complete a trade by Apr 28, 2009, you will receive credit for a free postage label. If you get one friend to sign up and complete a trade, you'll receive free shipping for one trade, 10 friends, 10 free shipments, 20 friends, 20 free shipments... you get the picture!
So what are you waiting for? Invite your friends to join swaptree using the easy tools below and you'll be on your way to shipping for free. For more information on this offer, click here.
So if you want to send me your emails on PM, I would love that, but if not that's okay too!!

I'm currently using it, but haven't had any success yet. There aren't a lot of books I want, so that could be the problem.

I love swaptree!
I have trouble getting rid of books ( I am a book packrat ) so I think its awesome that I can send movies & games and stuff that I don't use/don't like in order to get more books.
books are so expensive now-a-days that its a great option for m who was spending tons of money on books a month.

I know this is an old thread but I want to bump it for those people who havn't heard of this site :)
I've been using swaptree a lot more lately, it's been great. I've recently been getting the sims2 stuff packs off of there (already have the expansion packs), with everyone excited over sims3, they are getting rid of the 2 stuff. I just did a trade for one, I sent a DVD with only cost $1.90 to mail, and then did a trade for another one, a book which cost $2.24.
Media mail did recently go up from $2.23 to $2.38, but that's still a great deal, and occasionally first class mail is cheaper for small books.
Has anyone else been using swaptree?
EDIT:
I don't know how accurate this really is, but under 'my swaptree' it will tell you how much money you saved (I think they get prices from amazon.com, since thats where they get ratings and stuff, so its how much you saved compared to buying it new) and also how much you decreased your carbon footprint.
Mine says:
money saved using swaptree: $190
decreased carbon footprint by: 251 pounds

Seems interesting, I think I might sign up. Is it safe though? I hope they have a feedback system or something like that, so I'll know if I'm trading with a trustworthy person.

yes, there's a feed back system. It tells you how many trades someone has, and their rating (mine is 100%) you can click on their profile to read each feedback before sending or accepting a trade.

I signed up though I don't have much to trade right now. I am going to go through my CDs and add some of those.

When it's a book I didn't acquire in the US, I'm hardly surprised.

I just joined! I have a bunch of textbooks I need to get rid of and an expensive one I'm trying to find a deal on, and I remembered that I've seen you (Chelsea) talking about it around the boards, so I figured I'd check it out.
No one's looking for textbooks, but I have a duplicate of a Douglas Adams book that found me 262 things. :D
