Tell me why... [boyfriend volunteered her to make gravy]

My boyfriend decided to volunteer me to make the gravy for Thanksgiving? I have been vegetarian for almost a year now and he is fully aware of this. I told him that i would either make a vegetarian gravy or he can make it himself.... :confused:

well, you can always say no if you don't want to do it, since you did not offer in the first place. but if you do it, the vegetarian gravy sounds like a good plan. :)

I think he is going to buy gravy in the can, but I might make mushroom gravy as well so atleast I have something to use...

he volunteered you to "make" the gravy but he's buying canned stuff? can't he open the can and jam it in the microwave himself? i would say fine i'll make it but i'm making it from scratch with my own recipe, and make a veg one and not tell anyone it's veg until after

I'd thank him for his confidence in me, make the gravy, let everyone rave over it, then announce it's vegetarian. :) (Oh, and I'd ask him what the heck the canned gravy is for.)

I dunno what's wrong with that. Maybe he just thinks you're a good cook? Just make veggie gravy, it tastes as good. Maybe he volunteered you so that you would be guaranteed veggie gravy. Most gravy is meaty, at least if you make it you'll have veggie gravy. Seems he was thinking of you, to me. I wanna know what the hell "canned gravy" is, too.

yeah, is it possible that he volunteered you so that you could have something to pour all over your taters and such?
We always have vegan gravy, for omnis and otherwise, its that good.

Don't understand why gravy would be a hard/annoying thing to make. If it is only a vegetarian gravy you can still use cream and all kinds of stuff. But you can also make some bomb ass vegan gravy, just thicken some veg stock with a roux, or you can thicken your favorite non dairy milk with roux and then flavor it. I would be willing to bet that if you went the non dairy cream gravy route, most people would miss any difference.
