I'm in Tucson (about 1.5 hours away from phoenix) but I'm a big fan of Sprouts Farmer's Market. They have locations in Phoenix. There's also a sweet disc golf course in Scottsdale.

Oh, and make sure you mentally prepare yourself for 115 degrees in the summer. And give your winter coat, snow boots, snow shovel and ice scraper away before you leave. You won't be needing them here.

I concur with codemonkey on both accounts. Sprouts, Whole Foods Market, and Trader Joe's are wonderful havens for veggies/vegans. Get yourself ready for the summer heat by sitting in a dry sauna each week LOL! :) The rest of the year is BEAUTIFUL! You can grill year round here and sit outside without freezing your little bottom off. I moved here from NJ in 1997 and I will NEVER move back. There are a lot of great restaurants in PHX area that either offer a great deal of vegetarian plates or you can request veg. alternatives. Good luck with your move. I have never regretted moving here!
