This year for me it's looking like it will be 100%. I only have a couple more things to buy, but chances are I'll be able to find them online. I think this is the first year I have ever done it ALL online.
I can't stand shopping in brick-and-mortar stores in general (the crowds, the lugging packages home because I'm in NYC and have no car, etc.) so I only do it when I absolutely have to. Oftentimes in the past I've had to do it that way because I waited until the last minute and then there wasn't time to order online. Not this year.
Do you shop in "real" stores or online? Or some combination?

This year it has been about 70% online and maybe 30% in stores. I do like hitting up the stores and looking around to get ideas for people, but I do this way before Christmas clogs the stores up.
Amazon.com has been like my preferred place this year. I have ordered a ton of stuff from that site for Christmas.

So far I've done 100% online. I normally do a lot of my shopping online, it's normally cheaper and I can find good coupons and whatnot. After I buy stuff, I might go to the store and look around for some little gifts to include. so it will probably be around 90% online, if not 100%.

As much as possible, stocking stuffers and homemade gifts notwithstanding. I did actually buy my mom's Christmas presents in a store this year as I happened by something she wanted at 40% off. Didn't mean to though :P

It's probably going to be half and half for me. I don't drive nearly as much as I used to, as I get around with public transportation most of the time. I guess it will depend on what I'm buying. It won't be fun lugging things on the bus :D.

I don't know why anyone would go to the store for anything in the city - everything can be delivered! What an age we live in.
I didn't buy Holiday presents until I had nieces. Before I just did the donation-in-your-name thing and cards. Now I do that and also buy a couple of things for the kids - I buy things from the colleges I have attend - from the bookstores - otherwise it's all online because I only send books and unique learning-related thinks like mad scientist alphabet blocks (http://www.xylocopa.com/product/mad-science-alphabet-blocks).

Yup. The ONLY time I will go to the store in the city is if I am buying clothes for myself, because I need to try them on. And even then, I try to avoid it during the holiday season. I've already gone shopping for all the outfits and everything I will need for the various holiday parties we're attending. :)

If I lived in New York or something, probably a lot more. But I find with shipping and all, I can almost always find an item cheaper around here... of course I shop places like Goodwill. Most of my gifts are homemade anyway, I think I'm buying three things this year.

I hardly ever do shopping online. Like Tofu n' Sprouts said once you tack on the shipping to online items it doesn't seem worth it to me. Sometimes the shipping is more than the actual item! The only time I do shop online is if I'm looking for a rare hard to find item that i have to search ebay for. Other than that I go to the stores. I also do ALOT of shopping at thrift stores like goodwill and salvation army. When I go to stores the first place I head are the clearance racks. I also get the paper every sunday and scan the ads to see what is on sale then check for online coupons I can print out to use with them if they are available. I hardly ever buy things full price.

Well considering that I live a goodly distance away from my family as well as the in-laws, I'll be doing as much shopping online as possible so I can just ship the gifts directly to them. That and I can't stand shopping in stores, especially with the crowds :tired:
ETA: This thread just reminded me of something I wanted to order for my mom. Just went and ordered it. That's my first xmas gift bought this year.

i hate shopping for non-food items out in the 'real world,' i always have a nagging feeling that i'll find it cheaper somewhere else or he/she/they/i won't like it in 24 hours
i return 40% of the non-food items i buy just because i changed my mind.
so shopping online is just so much more convenient for those of us who are chronically indecisive.
so far: online=100% stores=0%
ebay is one of my favorite hobbies :D
