Well, since my fellow UKers can seem to get together, I thought I'd try this side of the ocean. :p
A couple of years ago, a small band of us went to see the Christmas show at the Music Box in Chicago:

It's incredibly cheesy, but good fun. We could do some dinner before or afterward too. IS and I are going to be around from Thursday the 18th - Sunday the 21st. Anyone interested in popping on a Santa hat for some Holiday fun?

Doug and his son are going to be in town that weekend, and we'll be visiting my father (who lives a couple of hours away) during the day of Saturday, December 20th, but we would love to join you that evening if we can.
What say you about a later show with dinner beforehand at the Diner?

Sounds good to me. I'm not sure what times the shows are, but it looks like the site goes live on Nov. 15th, so we should know then.
<<so excited about meeting the infamous Doug that I may spontaneously combust!

I spoke w/John C., and he and D. will likely join us. I'm also going to ask John Z. and John W. if they want to come, too.
John C. mentioned that the late show begins around 9:30 p.m., but we can confirm once the info is up on the site. The seats are assigned, so we'll need to get a committment from everyone interested in going. I can purchase the block of tickets, and then everyone can pay me that night.
I'm really excited about this! Do you and I.S. still have the stuff you wore the last time?
Can't wait to see you! :smitten:

I will definately try to attend. I may be working that day, but I typically get done at 3pm (as opposed to 6pm at my last job). I'll even try to bring my guy. Just get me the info and I'll see what I can manage.

Sounds good to me too, as long as the weather cooperates. We had so much snow last year, to be fair mother nature should skip us this year, but I doubt that will happen.

We were just talking about coming up before the end of the year. I have a $50 GC I need to use at Alice & Friends. Will depend on the weekend though. :-/

It's confirmed that John C. & D. and John W. will be joining us, and Hummus! conveyed that he should be able to make it, too.
John C. suggested that we have dinner at Veggie Bite instead of Chicago Diner, as we'll have a large group, and we wouldn't all be able to sit together at the Diner or guarantee that we'd be seated at the same time. Even though Veggie Bite is further away from the theater, it would be quicker and easier getting in and out of there, and we could all sit together. In addition, if a few folks are running a bit late, it won't really impact anything.
Thoughts?

I just checked the Music Box Theatre website, and the latest Saturday showing of It's A Wonderful Life is at 7:00 pm. http://www.musicboxtheatre.com/feature/christmas.html
I won't be back in town in time to eat before the show, so if everyone wants to eat first, my crew and I can meet y'all at the theater. Or, if everyone is cool with going out to eat after the show, we can do that.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday, and I'd like to purchase them as soon as possible, as it will be easier to get a block of seats together. I know it's a little early for some to make a committment, but I'd like to avoid paying for tickets that will not be used.
Here's what we've got so far:
Yes : carnelian, Doug & son, IamJen, Indian Summer, John C. & D., John W., Nickle00
Maybe : Hummus!, Michael, Veggie Friendly, Wolfie, kpickell, cheekywhiskers, SonicEarth

I don't mind eating afterward. There's a Flat Top Grill just down the street like 6 blocks that says they're open until midnight. Pick Me Up isn't too far away, either.
It'd be pretty late though (like 10 or 10:30), so if people want to eat dinner before we could always do Pick Me Up (or Starbucks) afterward for some coffee/snacks.
<<spent five minutes trying to figure out who John D. was (der)

I'm looking so much forward to seeing you all :)
We had some trouble with our airline tickets and we were afraid we'd be spending Christmas all by ourself here in England, but Jen seems to have sorted it out this morning.
I hope you get snow over there by the time we come! :santa:

The website states that tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, but I just called Music Box and was told that they can be purchased in person at the theater, too. I would like to do this to avoid paying the Ticketmaster fees, and picking them up this Saturday works best for me.
I don't think I mentioned this directly, but seating is assigned (it was kinda sorta implied with the mention of "a block of seats"). With that in mind, can the "Maybe's" let me know before Saturday if you intend to go or not? If you can't commit at this time, the worst case scenario is that you would purchase your own ticket(s) whenever you determined you could go (provided seats were still available), and you would be sitting elsewhere. A possibility, though, is if a few of you decided later and purchased your tickets together...that way you'd be sitting with someone you know.

So the tickets are only $10-15? Go ahead and get one for me and I can mail you a check. If I can't make it, it's not like I'm out a lot of money.
Eating after is fine with me too. Heck, the way I'm always running late, it'd probably be better for me. :p

Update:
John C. (aka jj1) has awesomely offered to pick up the tickets, and I'm gonna take him up on it, as my schedule is pretty tight. John will purchase them early next week, so we'd like to get confirmation from everyone by the end of this weekend.
John has requested that each person send him a check for his/her ticket(s), and I'll provide John's address via PM to anyone confirming that they want one (or more) (Wolfie...I'm at work now and have the address at home...I'll try to get it to you tonight).
IamJen and Indian Summer, you are exempt from this (cuz you're special :) ), and you can pay when you get here.

DAMMIT!! I miss every one of these damn meetups!! Boo!! My birthday is the 18th (Thursday) and my BF told me to take the 19th (Friday) off of work because he's got something planned so, once again, I cannot make the meetup :(
E.T.A.-- Although I'm SUPER excited to see what he has planned :)
