I'm interested to see how many people are thinking of starting a garden or expanding their existing garden in an attempt to be more frugal. How much space are you adding, what do you plan to grow?
I finally have a yard of my own, so I'm planting my first garden in spring. Rather than leaving all the work for later, I'm going to try to get the sod ripped off this weekend. It's a small yard, so I think a 6x15 vegetable garden is the biggest I'll be able to do. And I already pulled out a hedge in back so I can put some raspberries there instead.

I really would like to although I'm really not sure where to get started or what to do as far as growing goes.
 I've been trying to find things to read up on the subject though.

The most useful information I've gotten was from checking my library for a book on gardening designed for my state. May help you too :)

Thanks. I might have to make a little trip to the library tonight after work. I know in the end it would be more beneficial in the long run.
Thanks again :)

Find your state's local chapter of Master Gardeners for lots of great, free information. You can ask very specific questions and get answers that are tailored to your needs/wants. I know because my mom is a Master Gardener and is often on the other end of the phone.
