What would you say are the most reputable, vegan (or non-beeswax, much as I love that smell lol), non-toxic candle companies anybody would recommend? I would consider someday trying to ditch lights (even though them curly flourescents save a lot more energy than the others) and use daylight or candles to read by. Does that sound like a good idea anyway? How are candles with the environment? Is it too firehazard-y?

Anyway, I always have trouble finding ones I like. *Shrug*

I read that candles produce similar amounts of carbon as a light powered by coal generated electricity. It is why many saw "earth day" as a bit of a joke. However I am not sure if these reports had scientific evidence - I would recommend a google search!

However, soy candles may be better, or at least worth investigating. Maybe just minimising the need for lights after sunset and before sunrise would be preferable.

Hi:

I'm a vegetarian (not vegan) and I use candles that are all vegetable wax (palm) - I loved them so much I became a distributor. They are called Mia Bella. They are very low soot.
