Ok, I did some crunches this morning while watching the babbling ladies on The View. My tummy hurt after 30. I'll try for more this afternoon.

Bye bye beer gut!

After baseball is over, cutting out beer should be an option. But I need beer while watching the Red Sox. Especially when they come from behind in the 7th inning down 7 to 0 and WIN the game!!!

Only doing crunches will cause muscle to grow under your beer gut and will not make it disappear. As they suggested above, do cardio and reduce or completely take alcohol out of your diet.

run, bike, swim, walk, jumping jacks, jump rope, trampoline, elliptical, rowing machine = anyone of these (or a combo) 5 times a week for at least 30 minutes.

of course eliminating beer and other alcohol will make your belly disappear faster, BUT if you don't want to give it up (im with you on that one!) you have to understand that you will have to work out extra to make up for the drinking.

also, what foods do you tend to eat when drinking? alcohol makes our bodies hold onto calories different than when sober, try to eat as healthy as you can when drinking.

I agree with above posters... you can't spot reduce and doing crunches alone will not make the gut gone... you must lose fat...

do cardio (around 30 min 5 days a week), and eat healthy (no beer)...
You have to burn more calories than you eat...

Try supporting the Orioles, they never win any games let alone come back from 7 - 0 down.

PS. I love the O's by the way!

Uh oh, the bulimic pumpkin!!!

I drink lite beer and don't eat anything when drinking. I do cardio 30 to 40 minutes a day now, been doing that for 2 weeks.

I also have a beer butt that could use some work.

Don't forget to weight train as well as do cardio. The combo of both will transform your body quicker.

Hmm. I recently decided to drop 10 lbs, but refused to give up the beer, EtOH in general. Didn't have to. I love it and I have to have good beer. I think the problem is that many people are used to the bud/miller and have to have so much of it to feel a buzz that they blame the beer (god knows they don't drink it for the taste). Don't switch to light beer, switch to good beer. You drink half the amount (alc. content is generally higher), it tastes 10x as good, and you get 4x as drunk.

Exercise more, eat less, drink the same/switch to better beer :) It worked for me!

Now this is for aesthetic purposes only. If you're interested in health...that plan may need a little... tweaking.

All great ideas! My wallet won't allow me to switch to "good beer". Anyway, I don't like "good beer" sometimes because it seems to always be so heavy. Do you have a recommendation for what you call a "good beer"?

I looked in the mirror today after I went potty and thought that I look a lot better than 2+ weeks ago. I am doing some MINOR weight lifting (3 times a week for about 20 minutes). I do things like lunges and situps and crunches almost every day. I now carry weights when I walk and stuff.

Tonight there will be A LOT of beer drinking. The Red Sox are playing. Please get your recommendations in to me in the next 8 hours. Cheers.

Ahh, well I thought you were intentionally purchasing bud and the like for weight loss intentions. In that case, good beer may be relative so nevermind. I like specific microbrews that have a significantly higher alcohol content than...average beers so the cost evens out if not reduces. 7-10% vs. 3% alcohol saves $.

Shame on me. I did want to clarify that this does depend on your level of alcoholism (drinking level). Ascites, as a result of hepatic problems (fatty liver), will absolutely not diminish your belly! Think tomato with tooth picks. Skinny everywhere, but the belly. Heavy, long-term drinking definitely does not equal good looks. Unfortunately :)

If you can't, or refuse to cut out beer then you are probably a little more addicted then you think you are. An addicted person does not believe he has a problem, and also will cling to this thing as necessary-- as you are-- To enjoy a baseball game, you do not need beer. The usual way to lose weight is to eliminate the things that are causing the weight gain, usually starting with fat and empty calories. Things with calorie counts that are not necessary for health. Alcohol should be one of the first things that is tossed out the window, because it is high in calories, and not too good for you. I understand it tastes good, but so does chocolate cake, but you do not need to eat chocolate cake to enjoy a baseball game either.

I lost weight a few years ago with a calorie controlled diet while still on the piss most nights.

I would need some earplugs and a book to enjoy a baseball game. That doesn't mean I'm addicted to them. :p

Hypothetically.

Watching Baseball is as exciting as watching Golf. I suppose you need to be stoned to find anything interesting about either one.
