I agree with the cardio to burn the fat--at least 5 days per week, 30 - 60 min at a moderate to vigorous intensity. Weight training 2-3 days per week.

Also make sure you are hydrated--drink in oz, 50% of your body weight.
i.e. 200 lbs, drink 100 oz of water.

Healthy Fats, the monounsaturated fats help to reduce belly fat as well. That doesn't mean ADD a whole bunch of fat to your diet, but to make sure the fats you are getting are healthy: Nuts, nut butters, flax, olive oil, avocado, seeds, etc.

And cutting back on the beer will help immensely. Anything over 24 oz of beer, or 8 oz of wine, or 2 oz of hard liquor will be stored as fat, as your body cannot metabolize the excess.

Hypothetically.

Watching Baseball is as exciting as watching Golf. I suppose you need to be stoned to find anything interesting about either one.

You are not contributing anything useful to this thread. People who can't understand WHY baseball and golf are exciting tend to have boring brains, constantly whining "I'm bored".

You should really look into your soul and figure out if maybe YOU are the bore.

If you're going to drink beer, choose Pabst Light. :p

I know this sounds so wrong, but if you are looking for a buzz without the calories spiced rum and diet orange soda RULES. But, if you just like a good beer and aren't as interested in the alcohol effects, than I would take Holly's suggestion and pick up some really enjoyable beer and focus on the flavor. If you like domestic beers, maybe limit yourself to 1 or 2 and not eat any snacks that day.

I don't drink much anymore, but I used to drink a good amount of beer and wine about 2 days a week when I turned 21.

Now, I only drink about once or twice a month at the most, usually less. I found it was making me gain weight, so I cut down a lot. Plus, I am now graduated from college and living with my parents again and they don't drink at all, so it's not really the most exciting environment for drinking. Plus, they are weird about it.

Anywho---don't drink too much if you want to lose weight. ;) But, you don't necessarily have to give it up, especially if you exercise.

You have a point there. Its like the old joke about the hippie who attended a Grateful Dead concert and forgot to smoke weed and take acid who said halfway through the concert: 'man this band sucks!'.

Perhaps the beer is part of the baseball watching ritual that when combined with other aspects of the experience enhance the enjoyment factor of the game.

I was never a huge baseball fan but when friends used to take me to Candlestick Park where they had tofu dogs and garlic french fries and Gordon Birsch pilsner I found myself having a very good time :D

The only sport game where I feel I NEED to have beer, greasy chips, popcorn, and other things bad for you is the superbowl because---what is the superbowl without junk food and beer?

I can't wait for spring training for the Japan games when the games are at 5am American time. Beer. The breakfast of champions!

I live in Chicago. My "lack" of a beer gut will NEVER EVER get smaller than anyone else's beer gut.

errrrr, DA BEARS! Deep dish pizza! Italian sausage! Chicago style hotdogs! DA BEARS!

I live in WI and man...you can really see the effect that a beer and cheese diet has on people. I guess the extra padding helps folks out during these horrible winters though lol. When it comes to drinking though I have to admit I let it get out of control at one point and even though you think you need it to have a good time you really don't. If I can go from having a few shots of whiskey just to get through the day to not caring if I'm the DD you can cut back on the beer even if there is a baseball game on. You don't have to stop drinking but if you can cut back a lot hopefully you wont have to go through this cycle every year.

I am ALWAYS the designated driver on Sundays while the Mister gets to get plastered at the bars. I would love to have drinks as well, but I don't NEED it.

BTW, no beer since Sunday for me. Bless your heart that you survive in Wisconsin. Good people up there.

Never ever drink light beer. If you are going to do that, you may as well reach for a glass of water (cheaper, tastes the same). Don't skimp on quality for fewer calories and less flavor. We're one of the only cultures that does the whole 'fat free, lite, low kcal, kcal free' nonsense and we are none the lighter for it. Enjoy your food and drink, but do it sensibly, not stupidly. You skimp on flavor, you're going to try and make up for it elsewhere and thus the cycle begins.
