I know its a bit early to be thinking about what you will be eating at Thanksgiving, but I really want to go vegan. I was vegan for my last Thanksgiving and it was awesome. The food was great even though we didn't have many dishes. (3) I think. This year we live in our own apartment, but for some reason we have no oven. When we moved in, the oven did not work. We figured it had something to do with the gas lines, so when they came and did the gas lines, we figured the oven worked but didn't use it again until this past summer. We tried making a birthday cake and the house filled with smoke. We requested a repair the 1st of August, and no one has come out since to fix our oven. So until we get the oven fixed, we have to assume we won't be using it.
What can you make for thanksgiving without using the oven? Any ideas?

You need to get them to fix your oven. That's totally unacceptable. You need to pester them until it gets done (depending on the laws where you live, you can also sue them or fix it yourself and take the money you spent out of your rent.)

Cranberry sauce!!! Gosh, um... One thing I love that I'm making this Thanksgiving is asparagus sauteed with garlic, mushrooms and lots of spices, then add a half cup or so of veggie stock, cook it down 'til almost gone but still a little there (like a sauce), stir in some basil and serve. Amaaazing. You have to have fresh green beans too of course, and that can be cooked on the stove.
You can get a graham cracker crust and stovetop pudding for a pie, just be sure to check the ingredients and use soymilk (or whatev your fave milk sub is.) You could stir in fresh fruit to make it extra special.
Do you have a bread machine? Probably not... but if you can get your hands on one, fresh bread is a Thanksgiving must for me.

Oh, and there's a lot of stuff you can cook in a crock pot. Stuffing, pumpkin pie, mulled cider, etc.

If you send them a written, signed notice that you have told them about this multiple times(keep a copy), you can have it fixed yourself and they can be forced to reimburse you for the expense and cost of a small claims court. I imagine they should take you serious if you send them a notice letter with your needs. That's absolute crap, they should have had someone out there no more than a week after the complaint.

Yea, I wouldn't put up with not having an oven for that long!! It was well within your rights to get it fixed and deduct it from the rent by now.

The only problem is I only complained about it once. Now I think our stove top is broken too. We tried making vegan pancakes this morning and the oil started smoking in the pan when it was on the lowest setting before actually Low. Then the outside of the pancakes burned while the inside was still pasty. And the pan popped? It wasn't the oil that popped, but the actual pan. A co-worker said it was because the stove was too hot. I say they just replace the entire thing.
