I went to Brixx Pizza today and was expecting to order a cheese-less pizza like I usually do. However, (I haven't been there in at least 6 months) I noticed that the menu now says they offer vegan cheese! I emailed them a while back asking for vegan cheese. They said their major concern was vegan cheese not lasting long enough in refrigeration.

I just submitted a letter to them to find out what name brand they are using. Here's that letter:

I went to your Dilworth location today (in Charlotte). I noticed that your menu now says you offer vegan cheese (the last time I checked, you used a soy cheese that contained casein). I was very happy to see this change and ordered a pizza with the new vegan cheese (I'm vegan, in case you haven't guessed yet).

I was wondering what brand name you are using. It tastes like Vegan Gourmet name brand to me, but I want to know for sure. I will post your response on veggieboards.com.

The pizza was quite good, as they make some really good pizza. Anyways, as you can see from my letter, I'll let you know what name brand they use when they email me back.

Brixx Pizza has 12 locations in NC/SC.

i visited a brixx (raleigh, nc) and got soy cheese on a pizza...it wasn't really...great...however, the pizza in general was tasty...

however, this was a few months ago, and i would be willing to give it another try if they have changed the brand of "cheese" since then...

This is excellent news as I visit SC a few times a year. :)

Yeah, as you said, the previous cheese wasn't anything to brag about, but at least it did provide some kind of cheese presence. This new one isn't any better, but I don't think it's any worse, either. But it definitely isn't the same cheese. The previous one melted better, but had a more pronounced soy taste. This one is more neutral tasting. However, the rest of the pizza was top-notch and tasty.

Well, I got a response. I took a screenshot (blurred out the responder's name, in case he wouldn't want it posted for the world to see):

However, I tried to Google this Heart Smart cheese (using all kinds of techniques) and all I can come up with generic stuff like 'heart smart recipes', 'heart smart diets' and 'heart smart advice'. I haven't found anything about a Heart Smart name brand. Has anyone heard of this name brand? Perhaps it is a bulk food company for restaurants or something.

I found a 'heart smart' brand non-dairy creamer. But I can't find any information on cheese
