I came across this website while doing some research on freegans: http://www.jobprofiles.org/library/students/50_freegan_lifestyle_habits_for_jobless.htm

There are some good suggestions and while I am not jobless, money is tight right now. What are everyone's thoughts on freeganism and do you have other ideas to add? I always try to cut back and save as much as possible without feeling like I am going without.

Thanks is advance.

i try not to spend as much as possible too.
i haven't bought new clothes in almost a year (only undies!). i frequent thift stores for pretty much anything and go on the 50% days.
lately i have started a blog for my local friends and family so we can share what we have....i.e. i needed an ironing board so i put the need on the site, a few hours later my aunt showed up w/ one that she had never even used. also good for hitching rides, my cousin and i try to go to the market together to save because we split items (like bread) and have more reason to buy bulk.

I like some of the ideas, and do a bunch of things from that list. I've gotten some furniture and my vacuum from the curb, that sort of thing. But some of that stuff I just personally couldn't handle.

I hear freecycle.org is a good website. You can also find free stuff on Craigslist (or at least bargains.)
