I was under the impression that garlic was great for detering bugs - but it seems not to be quite so.
So earlier I decided to dig up some of my garlica and leave it to dry.
I happened to notice at the top of the scape, which is beginning to flower, what looked like dirt.
On closes inspection it seems that it's some kind of butterfly/moth egg infestation as several of the little buggers have hatched into little black caterpillers.
Does anyone know if this is actually a problem per se - and if so, is there anything I can do to stop this happening again?
I've had nothing but problems with several kinds of caterpillers this year.
Bloody things!
