Hey guys, I was just wondering does anyone do any Vegetarian Nights where you meet up with other Vegetarians from VB or wherever for a pot luck style dinner where everyone brings a dish? Would be a good way to discover new ways of cooking Veg food :hungry:

I've never done anything like that...but only because:
a) I have only one veg*n mate whom I see infrequently.
b) My idea of cooking involves either a microwave or boiled water at most, and to inflict that kind of cruelty on others would be unfair
But they do sound interesting. I just bought that Orgran 'No Egg' stuff, so I'll have to get adventurous sooner or later :)

If you make a vegetarian lasagne than I'll make a vegan lasagne! :P I cannot have vegetarian lasagne now. Grr haha. Do you use vegetarian cheese or normal cheese? :D My mum should make herself & my brother (omni) vegetarian lasagne. The only problem is she'd feel guilty cos I can't have it. She's too sweet lol.

Well I'm a big cheese fan so it's not vegan friendly, although you can get soy cheese, right? I'm sure it would be easily done. I'm in Ryde.

I do sometimes miss cheese, mainly vegetarian 'rennet free' cheese. :) I was one of the biggest cheese lovers ever! I couldn't stop eating it. :P
I haven't tried much soy cheese but I know I have to try it. I should buy some and put it on a homemade pizza. :)
Ryde? Sweet!! :D

Just to further crash your thread when I'm not even a Sydney-sider.... there are some FAB vegan lasagne recipes that don't even need soy cheese, my favourite one of all time is on the fatfreevegan blog and as an added bonus, it's seriously the EASIEST lasagne recipe of all time - have a look:

The bowl of microwave-something sounds fabulous too Kristen! :D ooh easy recipes are good. & fat free!!
You know what I did at work today? Put one of those lazumba little pumpkin soup containers in the microwave, to the point where the lid began to melt, and the pumpkin somewhat exploded out the small holes in the lid. Dude. I should just go raw immediately. Surely it's straightforward?:D
Anyway, that was a tangent. Tomorrows dinner will be Govindas. Maybe I should just bring home one of their chefs.

Don't worry, I like to think of myself as at least a 'competent' cook (well, I am cooking ALL the freaking time) and on Friday I achieved the following mishaps:
* burnt my son's microwave popcorn until that lovely chemical smoke filled my home
* taking banana muffins out of the oven I let the towel touch the element and it went up in flames
* forgot to take out the last two muffins from the oven and returned to find black little rocks :hungry:NOT.

Ooh I like 'picnic' because it implies minimal cooking :D and also, it would be at a time when I wouldn't be working, I assume. [I tend to work Friday/Saturday nights (Unless I am off to a concert) and this is usually the time for social outings. OMG I sound so old fashioned 'social outings']
