Hi Everyone. Here's your place to get encouragement and accountability for the month of September. This is the place to state your goals, victories or slip-ups and generally encourage each other on our weight loss journey.
As summer winds down and vacation time comes to an end we tend to have more structure in our lives. For those of you returning to school, I wish you all the best during the coming year.
As we continue our weight loss journey remember it's not just all about "looking good." We must not become thin at the expense of our health. Just a few things to remember: Eat the best you can to nourish your body and mind; get some exercise in the fresh air and sunshine as often as you can; drink plenty of water; be moderate in all that you do; get enough sleep each night to renew you body and mind; and lastly make good friends you can trust. Do not become discouraged if you slip up and eat off plan or not get in your exercise goals. Each day dawns bright and new and so we can carry on and know that one off-plan day is not a disaster. Here's to a great September!!!

I need to check in more regularly than I have been :) I am down to the last ten pounds (already lost 15) but the past few days, have been letting my 'vacation' get me off track a little and I feel like I have gained two or three pounds in the last day alone! No more of this 'core plan' business, I am back to counting points until these ten pounds are gone! And no more allocating points for chocolate, either, unless it's Thursday and I have not used any flexpoints yet (my week starts on Friday in WW land!)

I'm down for this. I've lost some weight in the last few months, but I'd like to kick it up
I've been a bit lazy with gym during the last two weeks; I had to cover other people's accounts since everyone and their mother was out on vacation, and I simply felt spent at the end of the day. :(
Time to get back to punishing that heavy bag!

Ficbot, my week starts on Friday, too :). I tried the core thing for a week, but I think I do better with some numerical values. It was too easy for me to overeat. Anyway, I have 20 more pounds to lose (so far, I have lost 31), and my goals for September are:
Continue exercising an hour a day five days a week.
Drink at least 32 ounces of water a day.
Continue following the WW points system.
I've been a bit lax in the snacking department by not writing down everything I eat. It seems I'm much more accountable when I track what I eat, so I will aim to do better in that regard.
So, I'd like to lose 7 pounds this month. Last month, I shot for 7 and lost 4. Seven pounds would put me in the 140s, which I haven't seen in years.
Good luck to everyone this month :)

Wow that's quite the commitment.
My goal is to continue going to yoga twice a week, drinking plenty of water, and having sugarfree/low-fat wherever it is offered.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum :)
I'm joining this thread because I really need to get my fitness levels up and lose some weight... I've gained 4.5kg in the last few weeks due to some personal issues (I'm an emotional eater :().
This month I'm aiming to:
- keep drinking plenty of water. This has never been a problem for me
- start exercising; I'm far too sedentary!
- cut down on nut butters and deep fried foods
- increase fibre and raw vegies, and decrease soy consumption at the same time
- take more time to cook and not rely on processed, 'easy' products. I love to cook and bake but i haven't had time with work and other things going on
My current goal for this month is to drop back down to 78kg (just over 1kg a week). Any more would be a bonus. My ultimate goal is around 65kg. I'm willing to take that slowly but I want to focus on getting some level of fitness too.
Good luck to all!

Hey there,
I am new to the board (but not new to losing weight ) I have totally blown my progress over the summer with vacations and too much laziness. It's time to get back on track. I have 30 pounds to lose. My goals for September are:
Keep a food diary - I am a snacker big time. A little something here, a little more there, i know it adds up
Stop snacking when i'm not really hungry
Exercise 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week - I would like it to be more but i think this is a realistic goal
I look forward to getting to know you and getting/giving support!

Hi rejoicingveggir, I'm new too :D. You've just given me a new idea to add to my September goals - stop snacking when not hungry! I'm notorious for doing this and it's probably my biggest downfall. Best of luck!

Hi Everyone and welcome to the Weight Loss Challenge and Veggie Boards all you new members. Come back and post as often as you like. I find I do best if I post every day but some people like to do so once a week. It's up to you. It looks as if everyone has good attainable goals set for themselves.

PTree, good job on the 31 pounds! I stalled over the summer because I was eating camp food for lunch---ate smaller dinners as a consequence so I didn't gain, but I didn't lose either. And then I had two weeks off and had a little 'holiday.' Bad ficbot! Back to counting until I get things under control again.
I like having the week start on Friday. That means I have the weekend to use the flexpoints if I am out, and if I don't use them, I can build one or two small treats (I like the two-point chocolate bars) into my week if I want to.

Sept goals:

Eat half and go back after a half hour if still hungry
water 32-64 a day
Walk 10.5 miles a weeks minimum
Lose 7-10 pounds by month end (158-155)

I'm definitely in! In August I lost 12 lbs and I want to lose at least that much in September. That's only 3lbs per week which I think I can do. My main thing is I need to exercise more. I'm counting points (weight watchers) and eating a vegan diet with no refined sugar, caffeine, or alcohol (except organic red wine occasionally).
Having three small children, finding time to exercise is a challenge but now that my girls are back in school I'm hoping to take my toddler in the jogger stroller for some walks!

Hi to all the new people!! My goals are pretty much the same as always: More exercise, portion control, drink water. I would like to lose 5 lbs in September which will put me in the 130s again. YAY!! Isabella our stats are almost identical. I am 5'1", weigh 142, am 57 years old and my goal weight (for now) is 125. Once I reach that, I may aim for 115!!
Good luck to all!!

Hey, Chryssiie, good to have company, isn't it. :D My first goal was 130 pounds but I lowered it to 125. I may go a little lower, too if I ever get where I'm going.

I'm new to the thread, too. Hi everyone, good luck in attaining your goals this month.
My September goals:
Exercise 30-60 minutes six days per week. (the day off must be related to working an off or extra shift).
Drink 80 ounces of water per day.
Portion control.
No bingeing (sp?)on days I don't get to eat at work.

I need to avoid binging as well - I have Binge Eating Disorder. The only time I seem to fall apart is when I get drunk during the week, and the buy/eat garbage on the train ride home.
Went to the gym twice already since we started! The only hard part for me is to keep on going - the two stopping factors are my sometimes crazy schedule and working out too hard; I have habit where I work out to the point that I practically have to crawl out of the gym, and feel completely spent the next day. I'd rather go 4x a week and not feel like death... here's to moderation!

Oh dear. I did no exercise today :(. I wish I didn't have to work such long hours (I know... excuses, excuses :P)
My eating wasn't too bad, although I did have a bit more dark chocolate than I'd have liked. Had a yummy huge bowl of vegetable and bean soup for dinner. It was packed with vegetables so I feel good about that!

Alright, I'm joining this time. I just started a brand new job as an English teacher in Japan (talk about stress - first real career, new country, new language... ahhhhh!!!), but I've been eating horribly since I got here. Mostly because it's nearly impossible to be vegetarian - they don't understand the concept and if they actually know the word vegetarian, they think it means 'no large and visible pieces of red meat.' Grrrr.
Anyway, goals:
-get the right amount of sleep most nights (7.5, instead of 5-6 on weekdays and 10 on weekends...)
-lose one inch from my waist (32 to 31)
-drink at least 5 bottles of water a day (I don't know how big my bottle is - a little smaller than a typical disposable one); I probably need more than that but it's a start
-run 3 times a week, or, if asthma acts up (as it often does when running), bike instead
yeah. I don't necessarily need to lose weight (I don't have a scale right now but I'm 5'3" and around 130-133lbs, have a fair amount of muscle). I don't even mind if I gain weight from muscle mass or something (though I'm not weight-training right now so I won't), but I do want to cut down my body fat a bit - which is where the lose-one-inch-from-my-waist thing comes in.
Good luck, everyone!

I don't know if this would help you, but when I started eating every 2 hours, my binges really decreased. ((huggs)) I know how frustrating BED is.

I'm shooting for another 4 pounds, and continuing the healthy habits I started last month.

I weighed myself yesterday for the first time in many many months. I started eating better and exercising a month ago, but told myself I didn't have to weigh in until Sept 1. So I did.
OUCH.
I'm really glad I didn't weigh myself last month, cuz it would have been VERY bad... as opposed to just pretty damn bad.
272 lbs. That's too much.

Hey guys, me again!! I'm in this horrible rut of posting in the beginning of every month, totally motivated and then falling off the face of the earth again. I originally lost 22 lbs. between January 1st and March 22nd but have since gone back up by 8-10 lbs. I got an elliptical this weekend and am looking for a treadmill to have at home too.
I need SOMETHING!! Would anyone like to post about their starting weight VS. current weight, how they've done it or anything else about their weight loss journey that I may find helpful? Thanks! Peace & Love!!

This months goals for me are too:
Jog at least 4 miles a day everyday (unless weather or famliy drama stop me)
Make it to the gym for a proper workout at least once a week (I don't have acess to good weights at home)
Start some kind of well planned streching workout everynight (i'm thinking of buying a good yoga dvd since classes cost a lot of money)
Since i'm incapable of eating enough vegetables on a cooked diet, Start aiming for at least a 50% raw vegetable rich diet.
Lose at least one pants size by the end of November and get to my goal size by June.
__________________________________________________ ___________
[Last months goals]
Get some freakin' exercise (1 hour; 3 days a week.) (I've gotton a ton of exercise, More than I even planned for so i'm very happy about that.)
Keep up with my calories and avoid over eating or extreme under eating. (I only slipped up and ate more than I should have 4 or 5 days, None of which slip ups involved eating to my actual maintance amount or going over. Only 2 days did I under eat and it wasn't that bad, Just a couple hundered cals.)
I'm not weighing until I see improvement in actual inchs, So hopefully lose an inch. (I lost an entire size + got those loose fitting :) )
Remember that I am human and I need to drink more than 1 cup of water every couple days to survive. (I've been drinking more water, Not quite enough but more than I was so it's a start.
