View Full Version : Tried to stop dissections in my school, got no reply!

A while back, I sent a long email to the teacher of a new science class explaining why the multitude of dissections he has planned don't sit well with me. I gave links to places that could give compassionate "dissections", like 3D programs and videos. I waited and waited and after a long time, I've come to believe he's ignored my email. Not just because of no reply but becaue he's the type that would (he's one of those "real men need meat" and "I love hunting!" types :brood:). I'm angry that he's be so immature as to just not look into what I've said at all and I want to do more, but what? I'm the only one in the school that doesn't like dissection. In fact, all the other's taking the class love it and would be mad at me for stopping this.
Help, please!

You might want to try posting this in one of the Activism forums as well, since non-teens aren't supposed to post here (I'm just sneaking in as a mod). Some of us are probably about the same age as your teacher, even. :o

GASP!
Jen's being bad.
Anyway, if I were you I'd print out the email and set it on his desk or something. I tend to do things like that when people are ignoring me. If he still ignores, then just keep doing it and posting them in various places until he responds, even angrily.
Activism forum can also help a lot more than I can >_>;

you should also send an e-mail to your principal/ vice-principal letting them know what you're trying to do so everyone is on the same page. also try to talk with them one-on-one, if you have all your resources/ facts/ numbers down pat it should go pretty well. try taking the economical approach; saving time and money by investing in reuseable disection software VS having the burden of getting out disection materials every year. keep me posted on this i'm interested on how it turns out =]

Thanks! I'll be sure to send a copy to the principal and see what happens. I am also set on talking to this teacher one-on-one about it. And I never thought about going the "it'll save time and money" route; great idea. ;)

If you talk to a school person- teach/higher up it would be SUPER helpful if a parent/adult figure was there bc/ to be completely honest the teacher/principal/school district is wayyyy more apt to do something about it if its not just a student.
If they still dont do anything you might want to inform your local radio/television people.
GOODLUCK~!

oh ya, get the media on em... lol
thats a really good idea, you know, to try and get it stopped completely
im having to take bio this year and 2 days ago the teach wanted us to mess with chick livers, i was plannig on telling her about how i wanted no part in any of that stuff, but i was thinking it would be at the middle of the year, so i didnt think i was pressed for time.
apparently not.
i walk in (already pre informed thank peace) and i was honestly near panic attack, i mean i was sure that even the sight/smell would make me hurl or pass out.
i got out of it.

Write a letter on your homework with a request that he responds. Even if it's something short, like "hey, did you get that email about dissection that I sent you last month? I was wondering what you thought about it!"
